Fresh As Morning Dew, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having slipped quietly into New York girls, beginning last Sunday, at the rather inconspicuous New World Stages, is this musical, "Forever Dusty," which is sure to excite those of us of a certain age, since it celebrates someone we all remember well--the late, great Dusty Springfield.
Forget that I was not cast in it, or even seen for it. Or Jessie Mueller, for that manner. I would have loved wrapping my voice around such Springfield classics as "Son Of A Preacher Man," "The Look Of Love," and "Just Because Of You," but my voice does not quite have that sultriness.
The word on the street is that Kristen Holly Smith does a spot on performance as Dusty, making the most of those classics, and conveying the drama that surrounded her life.
It may not be BARBRA and "Funny Girl," but it sounds like an evening worth venturing out for.
I can't wait, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!! And I will be sure to give you a full report!!!!!!!!!!
