Darlings, You Must See "Violet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Girls, there is an underrated show now playing on Broadway that is adult, sophisticated, moving, and featuring Sutton Foster in what is probably her finest performance.  In any other year, if this had not been the Jessie Mueller Juggernaut, Sutton would have netted her third TONY. But it was Jessie's year, and no one can say Sutton has not had her own juggernaut.

But what she does in "Violet" is so special, playing a girl facially disfigured from childhood by an accident--all conveyed by the manner of her acting.  She carries this show, vocally and dramatically; there is hardly  a time when she is offstage, and gets solid support from Alexander Gemignani and Annie Golden!!!!!!!!!!!

I recall how amazing Sutton was when she sang the showstopping "Astonishing," at the First Act end of the flop musical, "Little Women."  Imagine a show filled with those moments. That is "Violet."

I cannot urge my girls strongly enough to see it.  It is a show about something we all seek--self-acceptance. And Sutton, as Violet, takes us on her journey, and, in finding hers, helps us to find ours.

It is a tour de force you cannot afford to miss.

                                       A REAL musical, darlings! Imagine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
