At Least, The New York Film Critics Are Thinking With Their Brains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                 This is much more than can be said for The New York Times Book Critics, but that is for another post.

                                    The acting, the look, the visual sumptuousness, the period recreation, easily made Todd Haynes' "Carol" a selection for Best Picture.  All us girls are abuzz about it, and we want to see it, and live its glamorous, stylish life, amidst glamorous styles and settings. After all, what is life without some glamour???????????

                                     The big surprise is the Best Actress choice. Neither Cate Blanchett or Rooney Mara won. Instead, the prize went to Saoirse Ronan, so memorable as a youngster in both "Atonement" (for which she received an Oscar nomination) and "The Lovely Bones."  But that was over ten years ago, and the little girl is now an adult, and for her leading role in the film version of Colm Toibin's "Brooklyn," which I read and liked when it first came out, but might have to peruse again, before seeing the movie.  As for Best Actor, well, Michael Keaton in "Spotlight" is a deserving choice, (as is the film, and its director, Tom McCarthy) though I think the prize should have gone to that film's entire Male Ensemble?  How often is it that so many men are so good in one film???????

                                     As for Supporting Awards, Mark Rylance is a fine actor, but "Bridge Of Spies??????"  Like, who cares?  The prize is more for Rylance being an excellent actor than anything connected to that film.  At least Tom Hanks did not win.  And who is Kristen Stewart, and what the hell is "Clouds Of Sils Maria?????????????"

                                      Thank God Todd Haynes won Best Director for "Carol."

                                        But, when is he going to work again, with Barbie??????????????
