Where Was Bobby Shafto Going, When He Went To Sea???????????????

I have always wondered about this, darlings, and I have my theory.

Bobby, like Dorothy, Alice, and the Darling Children, wanted to escape to some magical land!  Who on earth doesn't want to, at times?  Usually I pull 'Alice' off the shelf and go down that rabbit hole, and then through that looking glass with her.

But Bobby, I am sure, wanted more.  And this is what he sought--

He wanted to go to "The Sugar Plum Tree," immortalized in the poem by Eugene Field.  "It blooms on the shore of Lollipop Sea/In the garden of Shut-Eye Town."

Shut-Eye Town is where Bobby Shafto was trying to get to.  And because of the illustrations in this My Book House edition, which had the poem, this illustration always causes me to want to go off to sea, to visit Shut-Eye Town.  Especially at Christmas time.

Wouldn't you love to go, girls??????????  And see that Sugar Plum Tree?

Like Dorothy, maybe you will find it in your own backyard.

                                 Happy Holidays, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May all your dreams be happy ones, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Norman,
We are listening to it right now.
    Great voices, repetitious music,
and I think it works better when viewed.
