Now, girls, I know this may be hard to take in.
Last week, which just happened to be Easter, we watched, as usual, "The Song Of Bernadette," with Jennifer Jones in her luminous, Oscar-winning performance.
But yesterday has, and always will be, the Feast Day Of Saint Bernadette, herself. She died at the age of 35 on this day, and 54 years later, on this day in 1933, was canonized a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. I know; what took them so long? Bureaucracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is the patroness of the sick, physical and emotional. I carry a medal of her around my neck, wherever I go. May a bit of her goodness shine forth in some of us.
This is the real reason to celebrate April 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be with us, Bernadette, at all times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the light shines in the darkness, though the darkness has not understood it...
ReplyDeleteVictoria,
ReplyDeleteThat is the truth. I can never forget
what Bernadette did and what she endured.
