I Had The Most Amazing Experience At Bay Ridge's Famed Gingerbread House!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, girls, I did not get to go inside, but nevertheless, my day was made.

Several Sundays ago, David and I went on a tour called "Murder, Mayhem, and Money In Bay Ridge."  The meeting place was supposed to be 29 83rd Street in Bay Ridge, which placed us on the side of the Gingerbread House, with no number 29.

I saw a woman come out--one of the owners, I suspected--and figured I would ask her.  Not only was she charming and gracious, explaining there was no such number, two seemingly furious Rottweilers bounded out of nowhere, and up to the gate, determined to deter me.  But I spoke to them gently, and soon they were licking my hands and competing with each other for ear scratches. There was a lovely Rottweiler in our building awhile back named Rowdy, and he was the sweetest thing.

People say I have a way with animals.  And tomorrow is the feast day of Saint Francis Of Assisi.  So, if I do have a way with animals, I must thank St. Francis for bestowing it on me.

I draw the line at scorpions and tarantulas.  Pit Bulls have been known to come up to me for attention, but I never pet them.  I want to keep my limbs.

But those sweet Rottweilers at the Gingerbread House were so loving.  Now that house is sweeter than ever.

                             Thank you, St. Francis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Well, that’s weird; every article I read lists the address “29 83rd St.”
Anyway, it was interesting to read about this history of this Bay Ridge landmark!!

  2. Victoria, Interesting what you said. I have no answer. But the house is gorgeous, and the dogs turned out to be sweet. The owners bought the house for $16 million.
