Darlings, Happy Birthday To Another Legend Of The Musical Stage!!!!!!!
Girls, today happens to be the birthday of Neva Small!!!!!! Neva was one of us, darlings, a Broadway kid, who, unlike us, got to play Broadway when she was a kid. Starting with the cult vehicle "Something More," featuring Barbara Cook, Neva, who is Leonard Bernstein's goddaughter, became a child sensation, encapsulated into legend status, when she sang "I Wonder How It Is" in "Henry, Sweet Henry", where her throbbing adolescent yearning defined such for all of us at that time. We looked to Neva, as she continued in the role she is remembered for forever, Chava in the film version of "Fiddler On The Roof," and her fabled work in "The Prince Of Grand Street,' with Robert Preston.
Today, girls, Neva turns 58, which means she isn't a little girl anymore!!!! But neither am I, darlings, though my PROFESSIONAL age still remains 24!!!!!! Neva is still out there performing; her "Somewhere In The World" CD is magical and a MUST for musical theater mavens. Neva's career just proves that a career is built on what one makes of it, and there are SO MANY talented people out there!!!!!!!
But today is Neva's day, and we salute her, still radiant and vocally glowing at 58, a lifetime in the theater, darlings, and may she continue to illuminate for years to come!!!!!!!!!!
We love you, Neva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
