Girls, Fall Has Rushed In "Lke Dry Leaves Before The Wild Hurricane Fly!!!!!"

Just to borrow a fragment of a line from Clarence Clement Moore's "A Visit From St. Nicholas", better known among those of my generation as "The Night Before Christmas." Darlings, before you know it, we will be reading that poem aloud in the season, as we hang those stockings (fishnets don't count, dears!!!!) by the chimney, with care.

Which goes to show how fast the season is speeding along. "Follies is the toast of Broadway, "Godspell" is returning, so everything old is new, again!!!!!!!! And in the midst of all these momentous happenings, I have neglected to inform you that, two weeks ago, the LPA Playreading Group convened for their second season of dramatic renderings designed to hone the acting skills of its participants more efficiently and cheaply than even an HB Studio acting class!!!!!!!!!!!!

The vehicle selected, Theresa Rebecks's "Loose Knit", was a last minute choice, due to scheduling conflicts!!!!! But it turned out to be a good one, with parts suited for everyone there, and with enough nuttiness to give everyone a chance to go off their collective rocker!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me say something first about Charlie and Steve! Central Casting could do no better than look at them. When it comes to playing a jerk, there is no equal to Charlie (who is hardly a jerk, himself) and the same with Steve as a cuckold (ditto!!!!) As for me, the role of Margie gave me a chance to, in some way, channel Eve Arden, though the voice I adopted was more of a man crazy sexual repressive!!!!!
Amy and Daisy made such fabulous sisters, I would almost forego the role of Baby Jane Hudson myself to see them play those parts!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't that be something????????? Emily consolidated her ingenue status; but I predict this season she is going to break out of that in a BIG way--something like another Emily, Emily
Watson, in "Breaking The Waves!"

Same with Tanisha! She gives consistently good readings in both Black and white roles, but she needs to break out too; how about something a Black woman has NEVER played before, like Ouisa in 'Six Degrees?' As long as I can be one of the Obnoxious Children, darlings, because no one, but NO ONE, can play an obnoxious kid like MOI!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nevertheless, the season opener was a success, the evening flew, and the condiments and beverages were superb!!!!!! Wendy rendered herself a skilled stage director, but with that soft spoken voice which belies much beneath, how I would love to hear her tackle Alexandra in "The Little Foxes!!!!"

As for me, I am waiting to replace Bernadette if she goes on vacation during "Follies," and more important, go in for the title role in the Tweet Theater's stage presentation (part of the Howl Festival) of "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?" How DARE they not ask me first????

Life upon the wicked stage, darlings!!!!!!!!! It's not for girls, and it's not for sissies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
