I Cannot Believe Google Did Not Logo This Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sure there are Vicious Opera Queens in town today, who have called in sick, and are hovering over their CD players, or I-Pods. That is because today marks the 200th birthday--the bicentennial, if you will, darlings--of composer Guiseppe Verdi--and, what with the Metropolitan Opera tonight presenting Bellini's "Norma" (what were they thinking???????) those VOQ's have no choice, but to huddle at home listening to every single Verdi work they have in their collection!!!!!!!!!!!
As soon as I heard it was Verdi's 200th birthday, I thought of two things--"La Traviata," and "Johnny One Note," which I have sang, darlings, because of the phrase "...while Verdi turns round in his grave." So, to commemorate the 200th birthday of Verdi, here is Judy Garland, from the 1948 musical biopic revue, "Words And Music" (MGM, of course!!!!!!!) performing that classic song!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No wonder they had to take the day off!!!!!!!!!!!!
