The Second Performer To Be Killed By A Bad Revival!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By now, you girls know that I will never--NEVER--forgive Carrie Underwood killing Eleanor Parker, with her live "Sound Of Music" broadcast.  Eleanor died from watching it; there is no getting around it, and had it not been produced, she would be with us still.

Now, Sid Caesar was a name I knew, but he never really had an impact on me.  I have seen clips from "Your Show Of Shows," but that was, really, before my time. And I really preferred his partner, the brilliant Imogene Coca (who made her Broadway debut in "New Faces Of 1934!!!!!!!") to him.

Which does not mean I did not respect his talent; I did!  I never realized he had crossed the threshold of ninety in age!

On November 17, 1962, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, Caesar  opened in the musical "Little Me." Adapted from the book by Patrick Dennis, Caesar played eight different characters, with Virginia Martin as his leading lady.  He received a TONY nomination.  Twenty years ago, there was a revival of the show,  which opened on January 21, 1982, and split the eight roles between James Coco and Victor Garber. It was not a success, but it did not kill Caesar.

Apparently, the recent one at the ENCORES!  did, because it was during this time that Sid Caesar died, on February 12, 2014.  First, Eleanor, now Sid!  Thank God, Fay Wray has already passed; this forthcoming musical of "King Kong" coming to Broadway would likely have done her in!
And, who knows, could Joan Fontaine's demise have been hastened by the potential mounting of that now disastrous musical of "Rebecca??????????????????"

Producers in the future should be very careful what they revive!  Because it seems to have a way of killing the original stars!   Only Tennessee Williams seems immune to that.

But, wait!  Harvey Fierstein has not played Blanche Du Bois.......yet!!!!!!!!!!

                                                     I certainly hope not, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
