Darlings, The Golden Age Is Going Faster Than I Thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No sooner had I heard about the passing of Mickey Rooney, then word reaches me that Mary Anderson, great character actress of the Thirties and Forties, who made her screen debut in the small role of Maybelle Merriwether in "Gone With The Wind," and was featured, here, as Jeanne Abadie (front, left) in "The Song Of Bernadette," has left us, at the age of 96. Which meant she was 25--a year older than
Jennifer Jones-- in the above photograph.
As so many of you on here know, "The Song Of Bernadette" is my Easter movie, and, with Easter just 12 days away, the time for its Annual Screening is approaching. Only now, there is a second reason to watch it--a tribute, to the late, great Mary Anderson.
I am telling you, can Olivia De Havilliand be far behind???? Let's hope she is more resilience.
As far as 'Bernadette' goes, one I know who is still alive is Patricia Morrison--yes, Theater Queens, THAT Patricia Morrison, of "Kiss Me, Kate!"--who I think is 99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That film sure did something for her, dolls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rest In Peace, Mary! Your presence will be remembered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
