You Didn't Think I Would Forget, Now, Did You, Darlings??????????????

No doubt, the lights of Broadway will be dimmed some night, soon, for Elaine Stritch!  There aren't many left they can do that for!  So, if I am able to, I would like to share two things of Elaine with you--the opening song of "Company," with the Original Cast, and Elaine's signature rendering of "The Ladies Who Lunch!"

Here is the title song of "Company."  Now, I have to tell you, I was not happy with the way it came out, but the quality of the performance is preserved.  You hear everything, except the last notes are cut off, and throughout, it the sound is shaky; perhaps the overlapping was too much for the mechanisms involved.

Still, this is how it sounded!  Enjoy!

Now, here is Elaine's signature song, "The Ladies Who Lunch!"  This one came out beautifully!

One more thing, darlings!  My earlier reference, in the previous post, to a similarity between Elaine and Bea Arthur's voices has a bit of irony I neglected to mention.  We all know Bea played the role of Dorothy, on the hit series, "The Golden Girls!!!!!!!!"  But, do you know who also auditioned, but lost out to her????? That's right, darlings!!!!!!!!!  Elaine Stritch!!!!!!!!  Who knows how much brilliant stage work would have been seen, had her career taken that turn??????????

And THAT, darlings, is show business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
