A Little Bit Of This, A Little Bit Of That, Added Up To "Glasgowman's Wrath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Last night's episode of 'SVU,' entitled "Glasgowman's Wrath" blended bits of "The Blair Witch Project" and "Heavenly Creatures," with that classic episode from 2004, "Mean," with the ending borrowed directly from 1999's "Killerz," aired on the original "Law And Order." Who would have ever thought this show would become a cultural zeitgeist????? As far as last night went, it did, offering up an evening of Gothic fabulousness, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, the real life perps in the Slenderman Case, on which this show was based, got their due last night, though their counterparts, Perry Gilbert and Mia Harris (wonderfully played by both Chloe Csengery and Mina Sundwall!!!!!!!!!) should have been sharply slapped across their bitch faces, before the episode ended. As for Oona Laurence, (pictured) who superbly delineated younger sister, Zoe Harris, did you girls know she was Broadway's original "Matilda?????????" After last night's performance, with proper handling, she could be the next Margaret O'Brien!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Things start simply enough with the Harris girls sleeping over at Perry Gilbert's house. The girls decide to sneak into Inwood Park, at night, to find Glasgowman, so they can go to his mansion. They get out there, and Zoe, the youngest, understandably, gets squeamish. Then, in true 'Blair Witch' fashion, all goes haywire, the camera drops, the girls run off, and Zoe screams. The next thing we know, Zoe is found in the park, stabbed, but alive, the other girls missing.
Olivia (oh, excuse me, Sgt. Benson; , fuck you!!!!!!!) and gang is called in. Thank God for Kelli Giddish as Amanda Rollins; she is getting to be the savior of the show. After much combing about, the girls, Mia and Perry, are discovered in a park further uptown, and out come the Glasgowman story, based on a character Perry's babysitter, Leslie Connolly,
Griffin Matthews) a Black man, has created, and told the girls his stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perry and Mia are about two steps away from psychotic and dangerous. Perry is more blatant, which makes her psychotic, while Mia is more subtle and hidden, which makes her not only sociopathic, but also the more dangerous of the two.
Yes, they live in their own world, and they think they are BFF's, but I for one am sick of all the morons on IMDB who think that what these two engage in is a lesbian relationship.
That turns out to be the situation with Mia and Zoe's mothers; though it took me awhile to grasp this.
What can I say? It was after nine, and I was tired!
The girls are hauled into family court. Perry is declared insane, and sent to a youth psych ward to get help. Manipulative Mia is remanded to her parents's custody, with the stipulation she get professional help!!!!!!!! Like, it will do any good?????????
Mia was just as guilty as Perry. And, in the ending right out of "Killerz," this is made abundantly clear. Everyone is seen leaving the court, on the elevator. Mia and Perry are next to each other, their parents beside them, but only Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) sees the two link pinkies. Their unholy alliance has not been broken. This was comparable to the look of Sam Waterson's face at the end of "Killerz" as he observes Jenny Brandt (Hallee Hirsh in her most memorable performance!!!!!!!!!) scoping out another potential victim--a little boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poor Zoe! She has no idea what trouble she is in for, with that Mia, who has to be the most rotten sibling seen on here since Ari Graynor played Missy Kurtz (based on Karla Homolka!!!!!!!!) in "Damaged," back in 2003. Stupid Dan Lauria, her father, wanted her acquitted.
"Glasgowman's Wrath" was yet another examination of the debate over whether or not psychotic or sociopathic child can change with time. Too much in our world has happened to make us realize--they can't!!!!!!!!!!! Lock them up! And have pity on their parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But what an evening, I am telling you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
