This Casting Is A Train Wreck, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, years ago, when Madonna was cast in a role in David Mamet's then  new play, "Speed The Plow," at the Vivian Beaumont?  There was so much controversy, and I recall one of the dailies--the Post or the News, said, in the headline, "No" She Can't Act!"

Now, when she gets it together--which is rarer and rarer these days, girls,--Lindsay Lohan can act.  But casting her as the role of Carol in "Oleanna" is like gilding the lily.  There can be no objectivity here. Between Lindsay's reputation, and the character, it is going to be a train wreck, because, if this makes it to the stage, by the end of the play, everyone is going to want to throw things at Lindsay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Partly, this is David Mamet's fault, because, at least when I saw the original production, with W.H, Macy and Rebecca Pigeon, Carol goes through stages where you want to give her the benefit of the doubt. But, I am telling you, by the time the play ended, I wanted to smack Carol across the face!  And when the professor started doing it at the end, there were those of us who cheered.  Much to the consternation of some in the audience.

But Lindsay!  If she plays Carol, the whole thing will be stacked from the start, and turn into a bloodbath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                      That's the Broadway Melody, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
