Even Though It Was Manolis' Point Of View, Harry Is Still A Disgusting, Sexist Pig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if there had not been that final shot of the scar on the side of Sandi' face, it is clear that Zachary Quinto, as Harry, is the resident bad guy on "The Slap."  In fact, watching the apology scene again, it is clear he and Rosie are very much alike; they are both firebrands for what they believes in, though Rosie is honest and Harry is a hypocrite.  Though this most recent episode was seen through the eyes of Brian Cox, as Manolis, who gave a brilliant performance, his observations were illuminating to us, his viewers. Don't tell me he did not know Harry was lying when he said he does not beat Sandi; what with that posturing shot from above in the car shop, and that cocaine fueled coworker whore hanging out there!  I am sure Manolis knows what is going on there. He wonders to Koula if they raised the boys wrong.  I will tell you what they did.  In some ways, they raised Harry the same way they accuse Rosie and Gary of raising Hugo.  The generation that Manolis and Koula came from was not one that dealt with mental illness, or emotional problems of any kind, very well.
For these folks, to see a mental health professional was a sign of weakness, on their part, which they did not want to admit to. Which, unfortunately, is why Harry is the way he is today.  He needed help, but did not get it. Were he to get it now, would he change? No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary and Rosie are a different couple.  They are of the generation that is more open to the exploration of feelings, but, with Rosie pulling the strings, and Gary just sitting back, issues--like Rosie's extended breast feeding of Hugo, and the child's potential for violence, in slamming toys against the wall--are not being faced; they are being denied.  If they realized Hugo had problems, I think Rosie would be open to doing anything for him. As for Gary, I am not so sure how interested he is in the child at all; in any children, at all.  Rosie seems to have the emotional stature for that; I could see her having another child, which might help Hugo. But I can see Gary would not be open to that.

The saddest thing was seeing Manolis visit his friends Dimitrios and Georgia, the former dying of lung cancer.  I wish I knew the names of the two character actors who played them; they were brilliant. The acting on this show is unsurpassed, some of the best I have seen on network TV in quite some time.

So, Harry is still a pig, and Rosie is awaiting justice!  I have no idea how all this will play out, girls, but I am still with Rosie all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know some people who need a good slap!!!!!!!!  Believe me!!!!!!!!!  And I would like to give it to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                 Can't wait till next Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
