What Is So Racist About Buckwheat Sitting On The Ice Cube????????????????

As a child I always thought of this as a funny gag, not something with racist connotations.  Buckwheat was cute and adorable; had the stunt been done with Porky, it would have worked, as well. But Buckwheat's stature, oversized shirt or whatever it was he was wearing, those curls and those teeth, made the ice sequence in "Lucky Corner" something special.

This is one of many reasons why the episode, "Lucky Corner," is so special.  You remember "Lucky Corner," darlings!  It's the one where Scotty and his grandfather have a lemonade stand that is being upstaged by a prissy guy's lunch counter, and his son, played by Woim.  At some point, a barber's electric razor is inserted down his back, and Woim becomes a puppet, at Alfalfa's discretion, a sort of comeuppance.  And the White equivalent of Buckwheat on the ice. So, there is no racism at all, here, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe this is where Alfalfa and another kid do "Little Brown Jug!"

But Buckwheat, teeth chattering while sitting on the ice cube, is the highlight!!!!!!!!

Remember, girls, this Theater Queen's first exposure to Shakespeare, was the Little Rascals doing "Romeo And Juliet."  And who can forget Buckwheat--one of the greatest of all Juliets, I am telling you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                    "Here ah is!!!!!!!!!!!," girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
