After a two month hiatus, Barney was tracked down, and captured, by Mike Stura, of the Skylands Animal Sanctuary And Rescue, on a former farm on Long Island, located on Barnes Road, in Moriches.
I have to hand it to Barney, who is this year's most popular, and beloved, bovine. I actually think Barney hitched himself onto the ferry to Fire Island, and had himself a jolly old time there. Like the song says, "he loves the night life," and the boys really took to him, and he to them. And why not? He looks so cute and lovable.
Barney's story will have a happy end. His days will be spent with other rescued and/or abused animals on another Skyland Sanctuary, which is 232 acres of land in Wantage, New Jersey.
A happy ending for those of us who came to love Barney, and still do. He had yourself one hell of an adventure, and now he deserve some rest.
If possible, I encourage us all to visit Barney, once he settles in. He would love the attention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hooray for Barney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
aww he Did have himself a fine adventure!
ReplyDeleteYou should write a children’s book about it!!!
ReplyDeleteVictoria,
Great idea! If only
I were a children's writer.
I visualize a PG rated story,
where Barney hitches a ferry
ride to Fire Island, winning
the most popularity among the
shirtless young lads. Then
when Labor Day comes, back he
goes to the mainland, where he
does not give up on freedom.
I am happy he will be looked after.
I would love to visit him.
