Just because Sammy left us, three years ago, this past St. Patrick's Day, is no excuse to celebrate his legend and spirit. Of the original 1975 cast of "A Chorus Line," he was the best male dancer, and won himself a TONY Award for what then was the groundbreaking role of Paul, which he so ably embodied.
Paul may not have been Sammy's actual story, (that was Mike, singing "I Can Do That!") but those of us who saw the show early on, were made to believe, by Sammy himself, that it was.
If alive, Sammy would have been 73. Like his surviving Original Cast members, he could go on tonight, were he here.
Happy Birthday, Sammy! You will live on in memory, and always launch Musical Theater Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have fun, dolls! Celebrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ICONIC!!!!
