This is a special day. First, it is Bloomsday, which means all things James Joyce. According to literary lore, this is the day--June 16--back in 1904 in which the novel "Ulysses" takes place. It is also the date on which Joyce supposedly met his to-be-wife, Nora.
So, get out your Joyce and read through it. Personally, I would do Molly's Soliloquy in the nude, in my living room, in the middle of the afternoon, but age and embarrassment prevent me from doing it. And I am not sure I could do justice to the text itself.
But, if you want to find out for yourselves, girls, there are some marvelous examples on YouTube. I will try and find one for you.
Here is actress Nora Connolly performing the entire soliloquy. Listen and learn, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wishing everyone the best of Bloomsdays!
But wait, there is more--today happens to be the birthday of my one and only niece. Three-time Newberry Honor Award Winner and celebrated children and YA author, Jennifer L. Holm. Yes, for those who know her, she is my niece! Happy Bloomsday, and birthday, Jenni!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
aww you Should do your nudie patootie interpretation!!!
