"Are we just April Fools" darlings? That is the question I keep asking myself on this day, each year. And what is the meaning of it all? When did it start? And why?
What bothers me is some use this day as an excuse for cruelty. As Blanche DuBois said, "Deliberate cruelty is not forgivable." So, if you must be humorous today, loves, do it with affection.
We are heading into Easter, holy territory, and the annual screening of "The Song Of Bernadette," which is only in eight days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
T.S. Eliot said "April is the cruelest month," and for personal reason of mine it is.
But try to be joyous, on this April Fools Day. Besides, there is "Svengoolie" to look forward to.
agreed. It should be FUN, not cruel.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never understood the entertainment value of mean spirited jokes or pranks.
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteNeither have I, which is why I have found so
many comedians to be NOT funny!
