It was published the year before I was born, which was 1953. Its author was a woman named Marian Potter, and it has never been out of print.
While struggling to fall asleep, several nights ago, this idea popped into my head. Isn't "The Little Red Caboose" the counterpart to "The Little Engine That Could?"
As I recall the 1953 book, the caboose was always unhappy being the last on the train, feeling less important than the other cars. Now, if I am wrong, please tell me, but doesn't something happen, where the caboose becomes a hero by pushing the train from behind, or something? I don't have a text handy, but that is what I recall.
I loved this book, as I did all my Little Golden Books. I started my librarian training by arranging them differently, by colors, pictures, and when I could read, by title. I was in training, and never knew it!!!!!!!!!!!!
How I wished I had kept all my Little Golden Books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t have that one but, I do have several Golden Books in my Special Books bag!!!
ReplyDeleteVictoria, Hang on to those. They are a treasure!
