Guess What Opened On Broadway Tonight, Darlings?????????
Well, fifty-eight years ago, that is!!!!!!!!!!!!
But honestly, it had to be someone's--a press agent, maybe--bizarre idea of a joke, to open "The Bad Seed," a then macabre thriller about a mother who slowly comes to discover her allegedly precious daughter is a cold blooded killer, on this day, back in 1954!!!!!! . What today we would call a sociopath, though, in 1954, when it opened, that word had hardly been invented!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where's the joke, you say???????? Do you know what today is, darlings??????? It is the Feast Of The Immaculate Conception!!!!!!!! And this was the day, back in 1954, that "The Bad Seed" opened.
How exciting it must have been to see Nancy Kelly, Patty McCormack and Company play this out onstage. You just KNOW I LOVE playing it, darlings!!!!!!!!!!! And, believe me, back when I was a child, my mother and I could have played this on Broadway!!!!!!!!! She would sometimes get as hysterical as Nancy Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonder how Mary (yes, THE Mary!!!!!!!, loves!!!!!!!!!) feels about it all!!!!!!! I keep telling Monsieur she does not giggle, but, you know, in the face of this anniversary, she just might!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy 58 Years to "The Bad Seed!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
