Looking Sloppy There, Paula!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to confess, girls, I fell asleep during the more crucial parts of Paula's Sunday broadcast, entitled "Deadly Predator." It examined the case of April Sima, a 16-year-old girl, who was found, raped and murdered in her home, by younger sister Shannon, back in 1996. In Olathe, Kansas.
The culprit turned out to be a 24 year old piece of serial killer scum, named James R. Watson, Jr., who, I hope is serving Life in prison. But, have you seen the sloppy photo Paula uses in her publicity ad this season??? Shows she is slipping. And the fact that I fell asleep showed me Paula was not moving fast enough on her case to keep me engaged. I wanted to know who this Watson was, what made him target April, how he came to choose her, did she know him, and what made him into a serial killer. All of these points I am certainly intelligent enough to form conclusions of my own on conjecture, but this is your job, Paula, not mine! Honey, Aphrodite Jones would have been on Watson's trail, before you finished your script reading!
Maybe it is time for Paula to hang it up, and let Aphrodite take over! Or Candace De Long!!!!!!!! Aphrodite would have bitch slapped that Watson, across the face! And I would have loved to have seen her do it!
Get your act together, Paula, and clean it up! Otherwise your career will be defunct, just like that other Paula....Deen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I should do "On The Case," darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FYI: You use way too many exclamation points. Instantly cheapens your blog.

ReplyDeletePoint taken. It is
a gimmick I sometimes adopt.
In recent times, I think I have
been using them less. Thank you.
I knew April, who grew up down the street from me. Her last name is Sima, not Sina.

ReplyDeleteShara,
Thanks for noticing the error; I fixed it.
To know someone taken from life so early and
so burtally has to be hard to live with. You
and April are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks for commenting.
Her sister Shannon was on of my best friends in middle school when all this happened. Really a terrible thing. Nobody deserves what happened to April and no kid should ever find their big sister raped and murdered.

ReplyDeleteUnknown,
I am sorry for your pain, and I
agree no one deserves to go through
what Shannon did.
Thanks for sharing!
I was April’s best friend from elementary to high school (minus the time she moved away). I want to ensure that you know one thing: that murderer is not someone with whom you should exert any energy. He took a life, my best friend’s life. He hurt, but did not and will never destroy, my second family. He was a nobody, ruffian and supposed gang member (as much as one can be in Johnson County, as we are a wealthy community.) He was a husband and father of two, as well as a misogynist and child molester/rapist/murderer. After a tremendous amount of therapy, I have come to learn that there is not a good enough reason in the world for what he did. Nothing he would say could sate my anger and/or pain. He is not the interesting person here. SHE was beautiful, funny, loving, kind, smart and the most loyal friend I’ve ever had. I understand that murders can be exciting because we wonder what drives these people. I have been an armchair psychologist ever since this happened. I wanted to work for the FBI because of this. But I guess, when it’s what happened to you and your loved one, it feels different. Paula did a lot of work, and she was chosen to give the story. I did watch the show, and saw more than I ever needed. It hurt me more than I could have ever imagined. I apologize for rambling, but my daughter found your blog, and I felt a need to respond. He is a troglodyte, a “gutless wonder” and was never important. April and Rebecca are the interesting (and LOVED) people.
ReplyDeleteShe was/is loved and a most loyal friend...Always N8
DeleteCatherine,
ReplyDeleteThere is never a good reason for
murder, except, maybe self defense.
Thanks for your share; it gives
me insight into victim and killler.
Troglodyte is a word I do not use
often, but I would fully agree with
you this scum was indeed that.
ReplyDeleteN8,
Thanks for your post.
It was very touching.
There was nothing special about him. He's a pedo, a rapist, and murdered. Some people are just wired differently. He showed absolutely no remorse in court, not even when his wife and kids, sitting right behind him, were bawling.
ReplyDeleteApril was a kind, and friendly person. She'd have a conversation with anyone about anything. It didn't matter if you were a jock, a punk, a nerd, or whatever, everyone loved her.
He used to drive an ice cream trunk around our neighborhood, and on Fridays April would get Shannon and I some ice cream. She was just the best big sister a kid could ask for. Every so often he'd come by and give us free ice cream and chat for a few minutes, and he'd be gone. There was really nothing more to it than that. Truth of the matter is he could have just as easily been targeting Shannon for all we know, or the neighbor kids, Mackenzie and Nina. For a pedophile to have two houses side by side on his route with 4 beautiful girls, I'm sure that was enough for him to start stalking while he was off work. Eventually he either lost his job or quit, and that was the last we'd see of him until his arraignment.
What most people don't know about this episode, is that I was asked to be on the episode as well, as I had been when we were all on the Montel Williams show, but time just doesn't heal all wounds, and I was not interested in digging into those wounds again. They did however, do a lovely and respectful job with it, especially on the editing of it since there were some parts they weren't allowed to discuss or get into, or some areas void of complete information either because my father and I chose not to participate, or because some information wasn't presented. What matters is that he was caught, and while our families didn't agree on the death penalty (we wanted it) he was locked up effectively for life.
For some of us, not a day goes by that we don't think about her. Even here, 7 years after that episode, and 25 years after her death.
I knew James we went to school together since Jr high I knew his wife I even baby sat their son once but I don't condone the awful things he did and my heart goes out to the families of the victims
ReplyDeleteUnknown,
ReplyDeleteDid you notice anything
about James, in retrospect,
pointing to his behavior?
I was a good friend of April's since I was a child and unfortunately James is my cousin as well so I lost family and a friend yes he did a ton of horrible things that I don't condone but he also has children and had a wife at the time, his father my uncle Jim recently died. my heart will NEVER recover from these losses
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for your losses, but I hope his wife divorced him, and that she and the children are safe from him, and leading a normal life.
