The Tragedy Of Being White Trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Much as we love Ed and Eunice and Mama, darlings, there is always something tragic about them; especially Eunice.  Ed, brilliantly played by Harvey Korman, has no idea he is a loser, though he does operate a third rate hardware store.  Eunice is the one to feel sorry for; she completely understands her situation, and has no way of getting out of it. This is different from Mama June, who embraces her White Trashiness, and has parlayed it into a career--of sorts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eunice resents her origins, and the limitations that keep her there, but is limited in her ability to do anything about it.  The closest was when she went on "The GONG Show," and was gonged!  Though her rendition of "Feelings" is unforgettable.

Poor Mama.  She married a loser, Carl Harper, who died sitting on the toilet, where he spent most of his life, anyway, and where most men of this type do, as it gets them away from their wives.  They smell up the place, making it even trashier, and Mama, who has more brains than Eunice, just doesn't have the money to get them out of what they are mired in.

Ed left Eunice, because he did not want to end his days, sitting on the toilet, and as successfully as Betty White, playing Sister Ellen, has reinvented herself, when she and Eunice go at it, her White Trash origins show.  Only Phillip, played by Roddy McDowall, successfully escaped...and that is because he was gay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Maybe if Eunice had been a lesbian, she would have had more of a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it is tragic when one knows they are stuck, and can do nothing about it!

But let's listen to Eunice do "Feelings!"  We love her spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And that dress, and hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
