When Christine Ebersole first sang "Another Winter In A Summer Town," in the original, Off-Broadway production of "Grey Gardens," back in 2006, she was not just voicing the plight of Little Edie Beale, but those of us who mourn the glory of Summer, which is still a magical period for some of us, whether we are still in school, or not.
So, I thought, what could be more fitting for today than to have Christine sing a song signaling the end of the Summer Season? Her performance is actually one of the great musical theater moment of recent years. And, Lord know, there have not been too many of those.
As a tribute both to Little Edie and this holiday, here is Christine Ebersole singing that song. Her performance here earned her a TONY Award, when the show inevitably transferred to Broadway, as I knew it would. And where I saw it!
Here is Christine, and that iconic number!
Happy, happy, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
