Girls, Join Us All Tomorrow Night, As Svengoolie Presents His First August Film, "The Curse Of Frankenstein!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

This 1957 take on Mary Shelley's story put Hammer films on the map for horror, and, from what I read, is actually more faithful to the novel than Universal's iconic 1931 version.  I have read about this film ever since I was a child, thanks to "Famous Monsters Of Filmland" magazine, and I always found Christopher Lee's make-up disappointing.  While he looks more like someone sewn together from dead bodies, he just does not have the iconic stature of Karloff, and never will.  He fared better as Dracula, but I will leave that for another time.

Speaking of Dracula, Valerie Gaunt, who played the Head Vampire Woman in Hammer's follow up, 1958's "Horror Of Dracula," appears in this film as Justine Mortiz, a character straight from the Shelley novel, and one of those tragic misfortunates, like Fantine.  Though she does not hit the skids, like Fantine, her fate is, in some ways, worse.

This may have been the film to first team Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, and the chemistry worked.  So, this film does have some merits.

And we all look forward to seeing Kerwyn!  And maybe a cameo by Toonie!

So, join us all for our first viewing of "The Curse Of Frankenstein!!!!!!!!!"

If missed, it may put a curse on you, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those who put curses on people...well
things never end well for either party!
