Right now, or at least, until March 13, there is this fabulous exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, called "Coney Island: Visions Of An American Dreamland, 1861-2008." It has to be seen; this conglomeration of paintings, films, and other forms of imagery--posters, post cards--is the most dazzling assortment of materials from this park. There was even a huge sculpted face from the original Spook-A-Rama, which looked scarier than the one I know, that I wanted to take home. As I felt about the life sized photo of the Parachute Jump, from 1978, and the Coney Island Side Show face, which is now that place's emblem!
See!!!!!!!!!! Isn't that fabulous????????? Wouldn't it be great to have that in our apartment??????????????
Some of the paintings were from the collection of-get this--Harvey Fierstein!!!!!!!!!!
Here is the Spook-A-Rama display I wanted to take home! Only, where would we put it????????
Hell, who needs to write this post? Pictures are worth thousands of words, aren't they? So, why don't I just post a few more?????????
See that striped wall? I want to paint our apartment like that!!!!!!!!!
The Brooklyn Museum is located at 200 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, New York. Do not miss this exhibit! Be there, or be square!!!!!!!!!!!!
And you might see me there, darlings!!!!!!!!!! I have GOT to have that Spook-A-Rama Display!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
