I have not written much on Tyler Clemtni in recent times, as there has not been that much to write on. Which does not mean I don't think about his death, and what it means to students, and our culture at large.
The good, the bad, and the ugly never go away, and this case has all three, the last two exemplified by the still unrepentant, non-remorseful Dahrun Ravi, who, on February 3--Blythe Danner's birthday, for God's sake, which should have been celebrated as a National Holiday!!!!!!!!!--forced a three court panel in New jersey to hold a hearing determining whether or not to grant him an appeal regarding the case, and have the matter stricken from his record!!!!!! To be sure, there is an opposing team, in support of Tyler and his family, aiming to get Ravi a more extensive sentence, as the original was thought to be too lenient in the first place.
Darlings, ever since this story broke, back in 2010, there is no secret about whose side I am on. To think that that entitled scum Ravi should be eliminated of any responsibility in this tragic event, which cost such a sweet and promising young man his life! A life that Ravi continues to live, even though he deserves to be working out of some fifth rate hooka joint in a run down Jersey strip mall, with a turban around his head, and a white loincloth around his waist, like Gunga and Rama!!!!!!!! A genuine prison sentence would be even better, and that is what I hope they go for--they will!!!!--and that Ravi gets. As for Molly Wei, well time and karma will catch up soon enough with you, darling! And if Ravi's fate is foolish enough to get him off again, never fear, karma will come back to bite him some other way.
But I am ore interested in justice for Tyler and his family. The matter will not be decided until probably sometime this Summer, but The Raving Queen will be watching!
