"On February 11, 1858.................."
Forget Jennifer Jones, and the movie....just for a moment, girls!
I am talking about the real Bernadette Soubirous now; on this very day, 160 years ago, at the grotto of Massabielle, in Lourdes, France, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to her in the first of a series of visions that changed the course of history.
So, it is important to remember the actual Bernadette, today, and not the memorable screen recreation by Jones. That comes on Easter Sunday, with the annual screening.
Bernadette suffered much to gain the sainthood she so rich deserved.
Remember to say some prayers to she, or Mary, on this special day!

Thanks for the encouragement, I sure needed it today.
While what we do in this life can seem like a thankless job,
we can take comfort in the knowledge that our reward is in Heaven.
You are welcome, Victoria.
Thanks to the film, and
the subsequent research
it inspired me to do,
Bernadette continues to
inspire me. I have her
around my neck. With
St. Jude.
