Can You Believe It, Girls??????? First Fleet Week, Now THIS????????????

                                   Quelle catastrophe, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have just found out that, due to debts incurred by Hurricane Sandy, New York's Summer initiation event, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, is in danger of being cancelled this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                      Does anyone understand the concept of a morale booster?????????  Which is what this event gives to countless thousands now.  What used to be a funky, localized Brooklyn happening, now has people from all the boroughs and all over the tri-state area, attending this.  Sometimes the crowds have been so thick, in recent years, it is impossible to navigate on the boardwalk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                       So, no Fleet Week, for those of us who love the sailors, and now, maybe no parade for those who love those Mermaids and Mermen!  Or dressing up as them!!!!!!!!!!!  This is a
disgrace to the cultural fabric of this city.  New Yorkers need the Mermaid Parade; I have been a faithful
attendee for (if this one is held) 23 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am looking forward to commemorating my 25th Anniversary there!  It is coming up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                         A source says just $100K is needed to make the difference between whether or not the parade happens.  So, I am asking all my darlings out there--who have attended this event--if everyone out there gives just one dollar, there should be enough for the parade to go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
