And who would want to? That remarkable sibling act of Celia and Andrew Keenan-Bolger are set to simultaneously appear, once again, on the New York Stage. If you recall, girls, there was a period, while Celia was breaking hearts as Laura in "The Glass Menagerie," that Andrew was over at the Nederlander, as Crutchie, in "Newsies." I know we saw him, dears, and I think (certainly, I hope!!!!!!!!!) he got a TONY nomination for his efforts.
Tonight, Celia is opening at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre, in Sarah Ruhl's latest play, "The Oldest Boy." She plays a mother convinced her young son is the Dali Lama, and I cannot wait to see what she does with this role! Break a leg, tonight, Celia! I know you will be brilliant!
Meanwhile, over at the York on the East Side, Andrew is gearing up for a short run (November 8-16!!!!!!!!) in what will prove to be a hot ticket, especially for Theater Queens and Sondheimites--a Musicals In Mufti presentation of Sondheim's early musical, "Saturday Night," going back, I think to 1954, and, with a predominantly young cast, is almost a foreshadowing of "Merrily We Roll Along." Andrew is starring as part of the young ensemble in this production, and with his talent, and the rarity of hearing this score, or seeing this show performed, this is a MUST NOT MISS for the theater season. I hope to see all my girls at both, supporting Andrew and Celia!!!!!!!!!!
They are just SO sweet, darlings! And brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
