Ever since Shakespeare coined the phrase for his classic tragedy, "Julius Caesar," the date has become coda for fear. But, I mean, OK, the wind is up, so that is not fun, but, on this day, 62 years ago, the original production of "My Fair Lady," with none other than Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews, opened at the Mark Hellinger Theatre. And tonight, at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre, its 2018 revival is having its first preview. With Lauren Ambrose as Eliza, so this may be an Ides Of March thing to worry about. Nevertheless, I wish everyone connected with the production the best, and give them credit for honoring theatrical history and tradition by starting performances on this day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beware the Ides Of March? Nonsense!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beware the wrath of The Raving Queen, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
