"So Delightful To Be Jolie! To Be Be Be Be Be Be Be Be Be Be Jolie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I may be a day late, darlings, but this bears mentioning! Yesterday marked the birthday of former 30's movie actress Luise Rainer, the first performer to win the Oscar two years in a row. First, in 1936, for her wonderful Anna Held in "The Great Ziegfeld;" (pictured above, which also won Best Picture that year) and then again, in 1937 for her brilliant performance as O-Lan, in the film version of Pearl S. Buck's still classic novel, "The Good Earth."
But it wasn't just ANY birthday, darlings!!!!!!!!! It was her 103rd!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, Luise Rainer is still going strong, three years into her Second Century of life! She may not be on the screen anymore, but she is the oldest living Academy Award winner, and one of the few stars of her era still living today!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, she was born back in 1910! Quite an accomplishment, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She was also married, for a time to the playwright Clifford Odets!
Few actors walk away from the biz at the peak of their fame, and are as still remembered as Luise is!!!!!!!!!!!! Let alone make it to 103!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, Happy Birthday, Luise, and many more! You are giving those De Havilland girls a run for their money!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And neither will capitulate till the other does! Which means they will both go at once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
