Well, darlings, technically, they are, because the K-B's actually do live here! But my personal sibling act, which happens to consist of my talented niece, Jenni and artistic (and also literary nephew) Matt, were in town last weekend, to attend Comic Con, which they were the toast of, girls, you better believe it!
Monsieur and I had dinner with them Saturday night, as they stayed in their adjoining suites at the Empire Hotel, which even Sister Camille D'Arienzo herself is known to frequent on some occasions. We dined at Ed's Chowder house, and had a scrumptious meal--my Chicken Paillard was fabulous, darlings!!!!!!--and, of course all kinds of names and memories came up. Including the original Baby Mouse, the unforgettable French poodle, owned by my family (Mother, Father, myself) from 1969 till 1979, and who has been immortalized, to a degree, in Jenni and Matt's series of successful books.
If only we could have met up with the Keenan-Bolgers; we all would have loved it, I am sure! But Jenni and Matt had events the next day, Monsieur and I were driving upstate on Sunday to visit Cousin Phyllis--what an experience that turned out to be!!!!!!--and Celia is still wowing them every night as Laura in "The Glass Menagerie!!!!!!!!!" If you haven't been, girls, check her out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the play!!!!!!!!!
Remember how Tolstoy opens "Anna Karenina"--"All happy families are alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." Where my family is concerned, you substitute the word "crazy" for Tolstoy's "unhappy," and you pretty much have my lineage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of which Jenny and Matt are the better, and saner part! And don't they look fabulous?????????? Someone needs to give them their own show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
