Girls, We Have GOT To Talk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My coffee is right beside me, girls, so get your alongside with me, as we ponder the mysteries of the literary standards of The New York Times!

Quicker than I ever expected; in fact, just a matter of days from announcing their !00 Most Notable Books Of 2014, they posted The Ten Best Books Of 2014.  Now, before we go on, hons, a bit of a review!  Remember, we are concentrating now on the five Fiction picks!!!!!!!!!!!

In an earlier post, this is what I said The Times would pick--

1.The Blazing World, by Sri Hustvedt
                                 2. Fourth Of July Creek, by Smith Henderson!
                                 3. Redeployment, by Phil Klay
                                 4. Bark: Stories, by Lorrie Moore
                                 5. The Assassination Of Margaret Thatcher: Stories, by Hilary Mantel

Now, darlings. here is what The Times ACTUALLY picked!!!!!!!!!!  Can you believe I got only one right?????????????

                                   1. All The Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr
                                    2. Dept. Of Speculation, by Jenny Offill
                                    3. Euphoria, by Lily King
                                     4. Family Life, by Akhil Sharma
                                     5. Redeployment, by Phil Klay

No Jane Smiley, Murakami, Richard Ford, Richard Powers, Marilynne Robinson, David Mitchell or "The Blazing World????????????"  What????????????????????????

I mean, "Dept. Of Speculation?"  Who ever heard of it?  And Jenny Offill???????
More Like Jenny Offal, I bet!  Same with "Euphoria," and Lily King!!!!!!!!!!!   As "Redeployment," forget about it winning the National Book Award!  Oh, My God, another book the war in Iraq, and God forbid
The Times should not be politically correct!  I say, leave political correctness for the News and Editorial Departments, and literary acuity for the Books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But stay tuned, darlings, you are about to get my list, as well as what is the Book Of The Year!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                        Stay tuned, now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
