Lily Is Lovely And Brilliant, But The Show Has A Long Way To Go, To Prove Itself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After so much anticipation, with many of us wondering if it was ever going to be aired, Lily Rabe's show "The Whisperer" had its premiere last night, and let me say the results were somewhat less than satisfying.
Lily, lovely and always on her mark as an actress, was a joy to behold, and the creepy kids, plus her scenes with them, made the show click. It is when Lily and the kids are off the screen that the show falls apart, with the writers trying to connect everyone with one another, like in the opening segments of Steven Spielberg's "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind." which it often resembles visually.
"The Whisperer" is actually based on a Ray Bradbury short story I have never read, but will have to, now, called"Zero Hour." I am told it is short, and quite lyrical and poetic. Well, this show as none of these. It dragged on like an overlong movie, where I did not care for most of the characters, and made very little use of Dee Wallace, or whatever she is calling herself, these days.
Would you believe she is only 65? She looks ten years past that! Lily looks fresh and youthful, and oh, that hair! Girls, between Lily and Blythe, we know who the Summer's fashion trend setters are!!!!!!!!!!!
But will this show survive the Summer Season? I rather doubt it. That would be some comfort to us Lily fans--it could send her back to "American Horror Story," where, with Jessica gone, she could run the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're with you, Lily, whatever you do! Can't wait to see "Cymbeline" live!
And we have GOT to have lunch!!!!!!!!!!!!
