Happy 61st Birthday To "The Sound Of Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

On this day, in 1965, Julie Andrews did that twirl first time so the world could see and then lifted her glorious voice to the Alps in song.  "The Sound Of Music was off and running, and no one then could have anticipated what it would become, let alone still be being discussed 61 years later.

Of course, the sad thing is Charmian Carr and my favorite Heather Menzies are not here to celebrate it.  Sure, many of the adults are gone, but, really, the children?  It is just too sad to contemplate.

I made it to the 60th Anniversary of the film, at which I had an unexpected and profound emotional reaction.

But I still wanted to remember the film on its anniversary day!

Those owning DVDs, today is the day to watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I shall wait for the next theater screening.

                                    Happy SOM Day, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Victoria, Oh yes, I have. It had to do with it being the first time seeing the movie when both my parents were not alive. The first time I saw it with them; it was my 11th birthday present!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
