What The Hell Happened On 'SVU' Last Night??????????????????????
First of all, darlings, I do not watch "Orange Is The New Black," nor do I give a rat's fuck one way or the other about it. So, the fact that Abigail Savage plays Gina Murphy on it, means nothing to me. But, last night, on 'SVU,' her performance as Sister Nina Kelly--a nun who may or may not be a nun, or an abusive one, at best--was so over the top, I couldn't decide what award she was going for. The Raspberry????????????
"May Or May Not Be" is what the episode should have been called. Instead, it was named "Manhattan Transfer." Now, once upon a time, kiddies, that was a singing group. How things have changed--and not for the better.
But what is going on? Let me just say a couple of things--I too wanted Nina to get her mitts off Noah, because I was afraid she was going to toss him out the window. Which would have really done something to Olivia, who is having enough done to her already.
I am just as confused as anyone about her taking up with Captain Edward Tucker, (the wonderful, and hot, Robert John Burke) and, let me tell you, I agree that Barba (Raul Esparza) was hopping mad, because he was jealous, as he has the hots for Tucker, too. Frankly, I can see them better than I can he and Olivia. Picture it--big old bottom Barba goes horizontal, while Tukcer the top of tops, enters him, as Barba utters what all tops love to hear--"Oh, do it to me, big boy! Oh, shove it in me, big boy!" Olivia does not have enough vivacity to say that. So, come one over to our side, Tucker. Don't get involved with Olivia--she is trouble.
And now both may lose their jobs. Tucker's cousin is the questionable Father Eugene, played by Michael O'Keefe, looking really ancient, and which always means trouble, so Tucker's involvement in the Catholic sex traficing thing has come into question. And so has Olivia's complicity in it, for sleeping with him.
What will Olivia do? What happened to Sister Nina, after she ran out the door? What about Tucker? Father Eugene? How will Barba lure Tucker to seduction? And how about that Sister Ida? I would look at her, twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will Noah just get fed up, and leave? Why not, he is on his own most of the time, anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What about Caprsis and Rollins? Will Dodd now head SVU? Or will Finn come back, to do so?
Stephanie March, this show needs you desperately!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE come back, Stephanie! Only you, as Alex Cabot, can sort out this mess!
Because Barba does not have the balls, and he needs to save them for Tucker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Is What It Feels Like When I Get A Migraine, Or Have An Anxiety Attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always loved this movie still, darlings! When I was a child, the father of one of my friends had this huge coffee table book, "The Movies," by Richard Griffith. The pictures were my favorites, even after I could read. There was a section on big films of the Golden Era, called the "Super-Production," and one of them was this--MGM's 1936 film "San Francisco," which stars Clark Gable and Jeannette MacDonald--yes!!!!!!!!--and was directed by W.S. Van Dyke. The only reason to see this film now is the famous earthquake sequence, Or Jeannette's campy rendition of the title song!
Now, as many of you know, I suffer from migraines and anxiety disorder. One is often brought on by the other. People have asked me how I feel when I am in the midst of either one!
Well, take a look, girls; this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so frail, like the girl on the right, I need someone to cling to! Oh, my God, do I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But this is what it is like. I would not wish it on anyone, but I have to put up with, so be it.
Thanks to a new med, though I get them (migraines) less and less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With "Evil Stepmothers" Such A Hit On ID, How About The Stepmother Who Started It All????????????
Now, technically, the Wicked Queen, who has been dealt with on here, is a stepmother, but that word is never mentioned in the story. The same cannot be said of Lady Tremaine, of Disney's 1950 "Cinderella," the story that invented the term "wicked stepmother."
One has to wonder about Lady Tremaine. Her dress and hair style suggests too many viewings of Alfred Hitchcock's "Rebecca," and a desire to imitate its quintessential bitch, Mrs. Danvers. Well, Lady Tremaine treats Cinderella as shabbily as Danvers treated Joan Fontaine. Kind of like how Olivia treated Joan!!!!!!!!! What goes around, comes around!!!!!!!!!!!!
A pity Disney sanitized the story. The stepsisters, and, I believe, the mother, get their eyes plucked out by birds. How satisfying that would have been to see Lady Tremaine get hers, and there is that Hitchcock connection again.
Still, Lady Tremaine makes a perfect Bitch Of The Week! In honor of rotten stepmothers everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And real mothers, too. I mean, look at Catherine Pelzer!!!!!!!! Or Mama June!!!!!!!!!!

Wait Till You See This Parody Of "Carol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
If you thought Cate Blanchett was brilliant as Carol, wait till you see Kate McKinnon, she whose Hillary Clinton cannot be distinguished from the real thing, in the parody.
Who thought there were so many lesbians, in the nineteen fifties? And who thought all those clandestine, gloved, restaurant lunches were lesbian in nature?????????
According to this parody, girls, they were. So make a dash to Sarabeth or Jane and order creamed spinach with poached eggs and a glass of white wine pronto. Sounds good to me, anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darlings, We Cannot Wait To See That Nice, Young Andrew Keenan-Bolger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Audra McDonald.....Saoirse Ronan....Jessie Mueller.....Andrew Keenan Bolger....girls, the stars are descending on the Great White Way this Spring!!!!!!!!!! Last night the curtain rose on the witchy hysterics of "The Crucible"--Saoirse is playing Abigail, whom you just KNOW I relate to!!!!!!!!!!!--but I know so many of you, including myself are looking forward to nice, young Andrew Keenan-Bolger in "Tuck Everlasting!" That's "Tuck," not......don't you get fresh!!!!!!!
This is a fine. wholesome show, and Andrew is a fine, wholesome young man! And all of us are going to want to see just how fine and wholesome he is, when the lines descend upon his stage door, once the show opens!!!!!!!!!!! You can bet I will be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Performances begin the very end of this month! You can bet Andrew will be the freshest thing of Spring on that stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I will be right here, after a night on the aisle, to tell you all about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, This Was SOME Sister Act, Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Long before fiction's Hudson Sisters--Jane and Blanche--were going at each other, real live siblings Vanessa and Virginia Stephens--better known as Vanessa Bell, renowned painter, and Virginia Woolf, renowned novelist--were giving them a run for their money.
But I had no idea to what degree, until I read this novel. Though written as historical fiction, much of the key incidents did take place. I had no idea Virginia had such nympho maniacal tendencies; I mean, to betray her sister, with that sister's husband??????? What could be more cruel????????? And isn't that, technically speaking, incest?
Virginia had problems, to be sure, going all the way back, and ending with her tragic suicide, in 1941, but this novel makes it clear that to actually live, day to day, with Virginia Woolf was to be afraid of her.
Still, of all of literature's depressive female authors--the others being Sylvia Plath and Joan Didion--only Virginia Woolf rises above them, with a lyricism that transcends the despair being dealt with, somehow making it somewhat bearable. I have read "To The Lighthouse" several times, and feel I should give her other novels a go. I even have this bizarre idea, maybe in retirement, of reading all of her diaries!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But that might be pushing it. Still, "Vanessa And Her Sister" is an informative, entertaining, and, with its skillful language, a stimulating read.
Let's not follow Virginia's example, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March Arrives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have finally crossed that two month threshold, into March, and the year is beginning to settle in. Easter happens late in the month, so that is something to look forward to, and while the weather is iffy, Spring is surely on its way, now. This year, the Ides of March marks the 60th Anniversary of the Broadway opening of "My Fair Lady," which is good news for Theater Queens!
The days will now get noticeably longer, psychoses will thaw out, and may we all be basked in an emotional glow this this third month.
Greetings, March!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
