No wonder the late Betsy Palmer looks gleeful. The original, 1980 "Friday The 13th," which gave Palmer her signature role of psycho mom Pamela Voorhees--and we just LOVE her, don't we, girls???????????--turns 40 this year.
I cannot believe it. I was still in my twenties, when I saw this at the Loews's Theatre, out in East Brunswick, New Jersey, which probably does not exist anymore.
I hope someone holds a retrospective screening. And if not, there will be, sometime this year, a "Friday The 13th" party at our house. Baby Gojira is excited already.
And speaking of films turning 40, so does the Jamie Lee Curtis classic, "Prom Night," a Shakespearean style slasher featuring the sicket bunch of bullying children ever seen, who are hunted down, and deservedly, six years later, at a prom. The end is a real tragedy, and the opening shows how evil these kids are. Not as iconic as "Friday The 13th," maybe not worth a party, but certainly worth another look at, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My, the year is shaping up, isn't it???????????????????
