Happy Easter, Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I decided to go all out, loves, and do a Religious blog post, and a Secular one.  Here are Judy Garland and Fred Astaire doing my favorite number from "Easter Parade, "When The Midnight Choo Choo Leaves For Alabam!!!!!!!!!!"  It shows how well Judy could really dance, when she let herself go!  And dancing with the creme de la creme of male dancers--Astaire!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, this is my secular Easter wish for you all--a singing, dancing, happy, and candy filled day, for those who can afford to indulge!  No eating of Peeps--it seems desecrating, somehow!!!!!!!!

Happy Easter, all, and watch Judy and Fred in one of movie musicals' finest moments!!!!!!!!!!

                              Practice those dance steps, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alleuia, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lent is over.  So now, you can eat, like a pig!!!!!!!!!!!  Farewell, meatless Fridays; dinners will be easier to order!

Yes, girls, it is Easter, when at dawn, Mary Magdalene carried spices to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus.  It is the day, in this house, that we have the Annual Screening of "The Song Of Bernadette."  And we will remember family and friends on this day, with gratitude for those with whom we share ourselves.

"Worthy Is The Lamb," so the song goes, but no lamb is eaten in this house, because of Ramsey.  He may be a ram, but, being a member of the sheep family, he is sensitive to lamb issues.  And that includes eating them.

So, a joyous end to the Lenten season, for one and all!  And remember, this is the day the Lord arose!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He always knew how to make entrances and exits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Processing Is Over, Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, Robbie, Robbie (Baitz), What Did You Do?????????????????

"The Slap" should have ended with a bang, but it ended with a whimper!

None of this is the fault of the actors, all of whom did a fabulous job.  The blame lies on the head of the writer, Jon Robin Baitz, whom I actually admire as a writer, but whom I am convinced was forced to sell out  to NBC.

True to the form of the book, Richie's was the last viewpoint to be explored, and Lucas Hedges was brilliant in the role.  But the Richie he was forced to play was not  the Richie in the book.

Batiz was trying to cover too much territory in the finale.  The focus should have been on whether Richie would go on the stand, and the question of the pictures.  Instead, we get into this tragic back story of Richie (who, in the book, is not a tormented kid) that invokes the whole Tyler Clementi tragedy in so cheap and exploitative a way if I were the Clemntis I would pursue a lawsuit against NBC.

The verdict was almost anti-climactic.  Harry was found guilty, but sentenced for time served.  Rosie and Gary were given a harsh lecture on their parenting skills, and threatened with a visit from Child Protective Services.  By this point, they had been reduced to a couple of catatonics.  The Rosie I admired was a firebrand, but in the last two episodes, and especially here, Baitz stripped Rosie of all her Mojo, so that she was happy with the verdict.  The Rosie I admire would not have been.  And, as one who relates to Rosie, I personally would not have been.   I would have said something, even under threat of contempt.

The last scene should have been the one that was most beautifully done.  It was in Grand Central Station, between Richie and Connie, still the show's two most responsible characters, as Connie is catching a train, probably to New England somewhere, en route to one of the Ivy League Colleges, or maybe Smith or Simmons.  If the last shot of Connie walking to her track, Richie watching with renewed confidence, and a pullback indicating "The End" had been used, I would have found the ending acceptable.

Instead, what was used was almost a tacked on afterthought.  The show ends where it began, with everyone gathered at Aisha's and Hector's house.  Except his parents are not there.
Rosie and Gary show up, and everything is hunky dory!  Are you kidding me?  Do you think this would happen in real life??????  Let me assure you, it would not!  We see that Anouk has given birth to a little boy, whose name is never given, and no longer has Jamie in her life, so she will be a single Mom.  Then Hugo comes barging in at full speed, suggesting he has not really changed, but then goes to Anouk and the baby, and, in a touching scene, Anouk allows Hugo to hold the infant, and the two seem to bond, indicating some hope for Hugo, although I could not help noticing Anouk never turned her head away from them for a second--and for good reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, Connie and Richie are still the two most responsible, and the adults will make an effort, but will soon revert to their old ways. Maybe there is hope for the younger generation! Ho hum.  For a show that started with such potential, what was done to "The Slap" was almost criminal.  Some of you may ask why!  But I know the answer, and so does Robbie Baitz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greed, baby, Greed!  It's the name of the Selling Game, in Hollywood!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Holy Saturday, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, just for those of you who may be uninformed, Holy Saturday, despite the sunset picture above, is not a time for going out to Latino, or any other disco clubs (if any still exist!!!!!!!) and doing "Burn, Baby Burn!!!!!!!!!:"  It is a time for meditation and reflection; in some ways this is to Christians what Yom Kippur is to our Jewish brethren.

Back when I was a young thing, it also meant staying up late that night, deciding wheter to watch "Easter Parade," shown annually every Holy Saturday for years, on CBS, or "The Song Of Bernadette," on ABC.  Anyone who has been with me here for awhile knows which I chose, and what I will be watching tomorrow!

One of the best practicing spiritual leaders around today (and she is also practical) is Sister Camille D'Arienzo, whom you have seen and heard about, on here, before.  If possible, I am going to take a back seat here (yes, girls, I know it seems unbelievable!!!!!!!!) and let Sister Camille take over!

Here she is, dolls!!!!!!!!!!!!  Listen to the words of this wise and loving woman, and accept my wishes for the most holy of Holy Saturdays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                    Rock on, Sister C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Belated Welcome, Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several days back, darlings, I was checking for comments, and noted an indication that I had 41 followers.  That could only be if I actually had 40, so, I went to the home page, and sure enough, the amount had jumped from 39, to 40!!!!!!!!!!

The problem is, with so many pictures--there ARE now 40--I am not sure who the new reader is, or what is their name. Newest readers usually appear on the left, but the one there has occupied that space from some time.

Nevertheless, I must remember my duties as hostess, and welcome New Reader to the wild and wacky world of the Raving Queen, which you will learn all sorts of fascinating esoterica, and pick up information you may never have dreamed existed.

I don't know how you found your way to this spot in the blogsphere, but welcome on board, for the ride!  Enjoy, and feel free to comment any time!

Let's raise a cup of coffee in honor of New Reader, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today Is Also The Day, According To Belief, That John Wayne Uttered The Line, "Clearly, This Man Was The Son Of God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That is, if your belief system includes George Stevens' 1965 (also 50 years this year, dolls!!!!!!!!) Biblical hoot, "The Greatest Story Ever Told."  This was Stevens' attempt to give John Wayne what today would be called "a Meryl Streep moment."

But, Meryl hadn't shown up yet, so, next to Anne Baxter's speech in "The Ten Commandments--"Oh, Moses, Moses, you wonderful, wonderful fool!!!!!!!!!!"--this is the campiest Biblical display on film.

I mean, just take a look at it!  No wonder I love the story of "Little Black Sambo" so much!  I find it more believable that a group of tigers would chase each other around a tree, by their tails, till they melted into butter, for a pancake dinner that eve, than John Wayne could be capable of delivering a straight, dramatic line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                        Happy Good Friday, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Mean, Is This Like.........Um..............."Brigadoon," Girls???????????????????????????

The odds are both have happened on the same day in my life already, but this is the first time I can remember Good Friday and Passover occurring on the very same day.  I wonder what the stats are on how often this happens?

In any case, it is wreaking havoc in lots of houses.  At ours, we are having a Passover Seder--something simple--tomorrow, then, on Easter Sunday, I may arise at dawn and do the re-enactment of Mary Magdalene carrying spices to the tomb, to anoint the body of Jesus, and then listen to the very special radio message from Sister Camille, and get to an actual Easter Mass, whereupon I return home for the ultimate Spiritual Experience--the annual screening of "The Song Of Bernadette."

My plate is fuller than it usually is, this Holiday Season, darlings!  So whatever you are celebrating, let it be happy and joyous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easter Bunny, or Queen Esther, what does it matter, as long as the heart is in the right place????????????/
