"So You Can Learn The Loco-Motion," Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This morning, girls, on this, the day before the purgatorial trauma of my colonoscopy prep, I thought we should be more upbeat today, as there won't be time tomorrow. The day began on a cheery note, walking to the subway, where I received doggie greetings and kisses from Chloe, who barked through the window, and my beloved Cujo, who was out on his terrace, waiting for me, and perked up his ears, listened to my problems, and gave me a big doggie kiss. Between them, and my beloved, I feel blest.

So, I thought the best way to be upbeat would be to dance the Loco-Motion.  I mean, how long has it been, since anyone has?

Let's dance the day and night away!

Here is Little Eva, doing the original classic!  Enjoy, and keep your fingers crossed for me, dear readers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's Right, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!! You Better Believe It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With my anxiety kicking in, as colonoscopy day nears--not to mention the prep--I just want to remind some that I am not as sturdy as one might think.  I may not be Karen Carpenter, but I am so fragile, especially at dealing with matters such as this.  The whole thing makes me want to bury my head in the sand, but that would be scientifically foolish, and I am smart enough to know that.

But with love and kisses from sundry, including my sweet Cujo, I guess I will make it.  Because a lot is going to be happening in June--and the rest of this Summer, and I want to be on hand to cover every morsel of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, I am a delicate flower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's Always Nice To Visit Idgie And Ruth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By my count, this is about my third reading of the novel, and I have seen the film at least half a dozen times, though not recently.  But while on a Mary Louise Parker binge, which included this, as Ruth Jamison is one of her most noted roles--I decided to re-read the Fannie Flagg book.

What is interesting, this time around, is that the book answers all questions the movie doesn't.  Like, what made Frank Bennett into the bastard that he was?  Or, what kind of cancer did Ruth have, and how exactly did she die?  Or how Ninny could not be Idgie, as the movie implies.

The one thing I would like to know is--when and why did Idgie and Julian leave Whistle Stop, and what took them to Marianna, Florida, where they ran a mini fruit and food stand?  It seems fitting for Idgie, but I would love to know how she got there.

None of Flagg's books hold up to this one, for humor, heartbreak and hope.
Both Idgie and Ruth are inspirations; I have said repeatedly, I always wanted to be a great lady, like Miss Ruth, but I guess I just have too much Idgie in me.

And then there are Sipsey's recipes at the end.

If you have never seen the movie, read the book before.

If you love the movie, enjoy the book!

                                             Both are cherished experiences!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just love Idgie and Ruth!  Thanks to Flagg for creating them and Mary Stuart Masterson and Mary-Louise Parker for embodying them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess Who Is Going To Be On The TONY Awards, Next Sunday, Darlings??????????????????

Will the house darken?  Will the music swell? Will she enter, in that black, glittering gown, and deliver "My Man," just like at the end of "Funny Girl." back in 1968?   I do it all the time, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But BARBRA has not been on the TONY'S in 46 years!  All this, of course, is to promote her upcoming Broadway album, because BARBRA never does anything, unless there is something in it for BARBRA!   But audiences love it, and they will give her a standing ovation.

As far as I am concerned, it is a certainty she will cap off the evening by presenting the Top Award--namely "Best Musical," which any fool within the tri-state area knows is going to go to...."Hamilton!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But imagine BARBRA there to give it!

"Oooh, the thrills and chills going through me!"

And to provide them, here is that classic ending to "Funny Girl!!!!!!!!!"

There Is Nothing I Love More Than A Bitch, With An Ax To Grind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, I am telling you, you have got to see the 1997 "Law And Order" episode, "Legacy," (not to be confused with episodes with the same title, but different plots on 'SVU' and 'Criminal Intent') where Frances Sternhagen has as much fun playing Estelle Muller, the winner of this week's Raving Queen Bitch Of The Week Award as Sarah Paulson did, playing sociopath socialite Anne Gillette.  I love them both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Estelle is from the New York upper crust.  Her son, Rick, married this social climbing tramp named Robin, who just wanted to get her foot in the door.  Now, Rick had this friend, Jim Shepard, whom he had known since college, and Jim became a social fixture with he and Robin.  And Robin did not object.

One day the men were out for some guy outing, in the park, supposedly rock climbing, when, supposedly, Rick too a 30 foot plunge to rocky ground below.  The case was labeled an accidental death, but try telling that to an aggrieved, aristocratic mother.  So, Estelle with all the fury of her mother love for her son, goes out to hire a hit man to kill Jim Shepard, whom Robin just happened to marry a mere seven months, after Rick's death..

Well, they exhume Rick's body, and it turns out Mama was right. An autopsy revealed he had been bashed in the head with a baseball bat, before taking that plunge.  Rick had been jealous of Jim in every way; he wanted everything his friend had--including his friend;s wife. Robin is left with egg on her face, and no man, but, hell, she'll find one soon enough.

This had one of the best closing lines in history, when Sam Waterson says, of Robin, "It's sad  to think you married your own stalker."

So, kudos to Estelle, this cool Granny On Ice, who had Jim's number from the start, and set out to make things right. Don't mess with this bitch; keep her on your side!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I would have done the same, thing.

But, then, I have no axes to grind.

                                                             Heh! Heh! Heh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"It Was 49 Years Ago, Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And you know what comes after 49, darlings, which means next year there is going to be a big, gala, 'Sgt. Pepper' celebration. At least, on here, and maybe a party at our home, with Baby Gojira.  He loves any excuse for a party, and he loves listening to this classic, which I play every year, on this day. Baby Gojira's favorite is "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds."  Mine is "A Day In The Life," because of the piano arrangements.

Here is the classic reprise. Sorry I could not get the title cover.

But wait till next year, dolls!  Fifty years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Just Because It's June," Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe we are already at the halfway month?  When it ends, we will be halfway through 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!

Already I have five birthdays, 1 colonoscopy, and I may have to go searching for another GP, as mine had a massive heart attack, and I don't know what is going to happen.  And this is just what I know.  Oh, the annual Coney Island Fiorentino excursion will be taking place on the 25th. And don't forget, June is also Gay Pride Month. And Bloomsday. Plus the TONY Awards.

So, only the unfolding of the month will tell us what else is in store, Stay tuned, girls!  In the meantime, here is this classic song from "Carousel" to bring in  the month!

This is one of the better moments in the 1956 film, which ruined the brilliance of this dark masterwork. But they got it right, here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
