Now, Girls, If You Have Never Seen It, You Might Check It Out! But This House Is Watching Something Else Tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                            "Svengoolie" has such a great line-up for September, why did he have to ruin it with "War Of The Gargantuas?"

                              For those having never seen it, there is a campy scene featuring an ersatz nightclub singer, in a nightclub scene.  I think she sings, then gets picked up, and rejected, by a Gargantua.  She is the sister of someone famous--I don't remember or care--but the scene is the best moment in the movie.

                               But after the sublime 1931 "Frankenstein," who wants to see crap????????????

                               So, we will be watching a Grand Guignol horror special--1969's "What Ever Happened To Aunt Alice?"  It stars Geraldine Page, Mildred Dunnock, Ruth Gordon, Rosemary Forsyth....what a cast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   It is so campy, darlings, and Ruth is so Ruth!  It's like Minnie Castevet coming to visit the Southwest.

                              After that we may watch "AHS: Bloody Mary," about the legendary bloody ghost who comes out of a mirror after saying her name three times.   Then we may watch "Sissy," a 2022 high school mean girls revenge story.  Those are always fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                               So, what you watch tonight is up to you, darlings!  But I warn you, "War Of The Gargntuas" does not get better the second time around!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get Over Yourself, Billy Porter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                 I have had it with this whole Billy Porter knocking ANNA thing.  So, you won a TONY Award ten years ago?  What, since then?  You are NOT Cole Porter, because he was a genius.  You are a hack.  You think YOU want to be the male Whitney Houston?????????  It is not going to happen.

                                  OK, so Harry Styles got the "VOGUE" cover.  There are others far more deserving--Dan Levy, Daniel Radcliffe, Stanely Tucci, Jake Gyllenhaal, to name a few--but your sorry ass face is not one of them.  Who the hell do you think you are????????  Queen Latifah?  She'd knock you to the ground, honey!

                                    Which is maybe what you need and are soon to get.

                                    And knocking ANNA??????????  That will get you nowhere in this town, darling!!!!!!!!!!!  NOWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Older I Get, The More Convinced I Become That "Frankenstein" Is Not A Movie For Children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                   Even if Mae Clarke had taken a grapefruit in the face that year, or, herein, wears the longest wedding train in film history!  Not even Julie Andrews' magnificent wedding gown, designed by Dorothy Jeakins for "The Sound Of Music" can approach it in length.

                                     "Frankenstein" opens with death.  A cemetery, weeping mourners, a loved one being laid to rest, all with poetic, visual artistry by James Whale and his crew of designers, but death, nevertheless, demonstrating there is nothing pretty about it.

                                        The same with the famous drowning scene of little Maria, played by Marilyn Harris.  When Karloff throws her in the water, we the audience get it; nevertheless, the murder is shocking. And, before this scene was restored, as it was originally cut by many state censors. the scene of her father carrying her corpse through the village filled me with horror, as it does to this day.

                                         Yet, in the mill, when the board falls on the Monster and traps him, I only feel sympathy.

                                          "Frankenstein" is an intense, emotionally engaging movie that I think is better left for adults than children.   After ninety years its power to spellbind remains undiminished.

                                              All you single girls--see if your wedding train can outmatch Mae Clarke's!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

Bay Ridge Might Just Have Found The New Sylvia Weinstock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                 This enchanting display caught my eye the other day.  It is at 8617 Third Avenue, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  That is Third Avenue and 86th Street.

                                    The yellow is brighter than pictured, and the displays within are visual delights, indicating that the owner, or owners here, have the potential to become the next Sylvia Weinstock.  I have not seen such work since Sylvia passed away, two years ago this November 22.  So, it is a delight to make this tasty discovery.  Maybe we will have them make the special cake for Baby Gojira's 20th birthday party, which will be in August of next year.  Eleven months seems far, but the time goes fast.

                                      I hope Ten Cake Studio has a long and prosperous stay in Bay Ridge.

Fabulous News, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Celia Keenan-Bolger Is Returning To Broadway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                      And it is about time, too. By the time her vehicle opens it will have been six years since "To Kill A Mockingbird."  That is far too long for all of us Celia fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                       The play is called "Mother Play," by someone I happen to know, Paula Vogel.  Set near Washington D.C. in 1962, this sounds like it could be Vogel's "Glass Menagerie," which could earn Celia another TONY nomination, and win for her the TONY she should have won for playing Laura ten years ago.  Has it really been ten years, darlings??????????  Yes, it has!

                                         The matriarch in the play is Jessica Lange, who did "The Glass Menagerie" with Sarah Paulson eighteen years ago.  The son, Charles, will be played by Jim Parsons, while Celia will play daughter Martha.

                                            Those of us who are Celia fans simply cannot wait!  But wait we will have to!  The production begins previews at The Helen Hayes Theatre--so it will be small and intimate--on April 2, 2024, and then opens for a limited engagement--so get those tickets, girls! --on April 25.

                                              Girls, I cannot wait to see the triumphant return of Celia.  Like Aida, or Elizabeth Taylor in "Cleopatra," darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                          Indeed.  That fabulous collection which rests in her office at 101 World Trade Center.  Will it stay?  It might get stolen.  Will she take it with her?  It had better be packed properly.

                           ANNA, this is just one among many things to be considered before forsaking New York.  The other is, can I have your office?  I would LOVE the view.  And I would take good care of the Clarice. Cliff collection.

                           I am sure there will be more addendums in the weeks to come.  But it isn't up to me, darlings!
