Fooled you, didn't I, girls????????? Can you believe we are already into April????????? When is Winter going to let go of its grasp on us???????? Anyway, instead of opening the month with a pastoral scene--there will be plenty of time for that, in days to come--I thought I would open with a REAL howler--Richard Cuhna's (the same year he made "She-Demons!!!!!!!!!") 1958 classic, "Frankenstein's Daughter."
The whole thing is pretty much a meditation on Mary Shelley's original, cautionary theme, but in Fifties (and relevant for today, dears!) parlance! This is a warning not to have too many face lifts, and to maintain daily your natural beauty through make-up and lotions. Otherwise, you will end up looking like Sandra Knight, above--a monster running through neighborhoods, with a great body, but rotten face, in a bathrobe and one-piece bathing suit!!!!!!!!!!! Beware the hazards of neglecting one's beauty maintenance!!!!!!!!!!!!
And wait till you see Sally Todd, as Susie Lawler. Actually quite beautiful, once dead, she is turned into a mannish, beans n' franks lesbian version of a Frankenstein monster, because the budget would not allow for more feminine distinction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And speaking of "April Fools," here is Dionne Warwick!!!!!!!!!! Happy April, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
