Girls, Join Us All Tonight, As "Svengoolie" Closes Out April, With An Unusual Selection--Tobe Hooper's 1986 Remake Of "Invaders From Mars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

                                                     I cannot figure out Svengoolie's April schematic, girls! Two werewolf movies, several Universal monster films--and now THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  There was no rhyme or reason to what was shown.

                                                      Now, I recall when this film came out, and I intentionally stayed away from it.  To remake the 1953 classic was a desecration; it was after all, directed by William Cameron Menzies, who I am sure had a hand in the visuals, being that he was Oscared for his work on a little something called "Gone With The Wind."

                                                        The smartest thing Hooper did was getting Jimmy Hunt, who played the little boy in the original, to do a cameo as a police chief.  And he got Louise Fletcher during her bitch period, so I do look forward to seeing Louise bitch it up. Or not--remember I have never seen this particular film.

                                                          And, then don't forget, there is the "Svengoolie" after party, hosted by "Sventoonie."  I simply cannot wait to see what film he is going to deconstruct.  It should be loads of fun.

                                                             Curiosity rules, but I have my reservations about this "Invaders From Mars."  As Jimmy Hunt said, in the 1953 original--"Gee whiz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                    These are the 1953 and 1986 depictions of the invaders' leader.  I, of course, prefer the 1953 one.  The one in 1986 looks like a giant pubic louse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
