Introducing Caitlyn Jenner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who would have thought it, girls?  Bruce Jenner, on the cover of Vanity Fair????????

Excuse me, but that is Caitlyn now.  Caitlyn Jenner.  Pretty name, but why such a complete change. Why not Berenice?   Or Bernita?  My parents had the most sophisticated friends in the Fifties--this couple named Bernita and Giles.  Not "Bob And Carol And Ted And Alice" sophisticated--this was the Fifties, after all, and my parents were not sexual swingers!  Oh, my God, no!!!!!!!!!!

But the sophistication of this cover is astonishing. Several weeks back, I posted a piece where I showed Jenner looking like he was halfway through being made over into Joan Didion!  Not good! But, now, with this hair, the softened make-up, the lighting, and the sophisticated Forties bra and panties look, I am telling you everyone is going to be buying Playtex this Summer. Their stock is going to go through the roof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I applauded Jenner's stand!  But I never thought he could look THIS good!

Like the song says, darlings, "But if you think that you can be an actor, see Mr. Factor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Oh, That Katrina Ludlow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, I am telling you, who would have thought Julia Roberts had it in her to play a manipulative, sociopath????????  Well, back on May 5, 1999, when she and Benjamin Bratt were an item at the time, through him, she did a guest appearance on "Law And Order," called "Empire," and you have got to see it, for Julia plays the most fascinating no gooder this side of Stephanie Harker.

Actually both Stephanie and Katrina had something in common--they were both desperate to get out of their Goat Alley origins.  Stephanie, who was just Steffie Stevens, came from the Canadian version thereof, while Katrina, born Katherine McGuirik (!!!!!!) on September 12, 1968,, clawed  her way to the East Side of Manhattan, where she became a party planner, had the apartment, but wanted to go higher; that is, to be a part of the world she was only working for!!!!!!!!!!!

You see, a rival fundraiser, Julian Spector (Daniel Hugh Kelly) who wanted his stadium sponsored, knew his partner, Gilbert Sanderson, had qualms. So, he provided Katrina, with some Viagra, for their (Gil and Katrina's ) liaison.  Now, his rival, Spector, knew that Sanderson had a bad heart, and that an overdose of Viagra might get him horny, but, like Nelson J. Rockefeller, it would be the last thing he did..  But Katrina, though a conniving bitch, who wanted to move up in the world--which became apparent at the trial, when it was discovered she had been kicked out of prestigious Briarcliffe College, for lying on her application, saying she was related to the Astor Family (!!!!!), not to mention her job history was spotty-- did not know the dosage was fatal, which is how she escaped prison, but, nevertheless, found she could not elude her origins, as once a whore from Goat Alley, always one.  It would have been gratifying to see her being dragged back to the slum trash where she came from, but the show ended with Julia fading into the night....and us knowing Katrina would go on to another scheme, till she is caught eventually.

But Julia was some cool customer in this one!   I want to take some career counseling lessons from Katirna, and fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think how far I could go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lily Is Lovely And Brilliant, But The Show Has A Long Way To Go, To Prove Itself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After so much anticipation, with many of us wondering if it was ever going to be aired, Lily Rabe's show "The Whisperer" had its premiere last night, and let me say the results were somewhat less than satisfying.

Lily, lovely and always on her mark as an actress, was a joy to behold, and the creepy kids, plus her scenes with them, made the show click.  It is when Lily and the kids are off the screen that the show falls apart, with the writers trying to connect everyone with one another, like in the opening segments of Steven Spielberg's "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind." which it often resembles visually.

"The Whisperer" is actually based on a Ray Bradbury short story I have never read, but will have to, now, called"Zero Hour."  I am told it is short, and quite lyrical and poetic. Well, this show as none of these. It dragged on like an overlong movie, where I did not care for most of the characters, and made very little use of Dee Wallace, or whatever she is calling herself, these days.

Would you believe she is only 65?  She looks ten years past that! Lily looks fresh and youthful, and oh, that hair!  Girls, between Lily and Blythe, we know who the Summer's fashion trend setters are!!!!!!!!!!!

But will this show survive the Summer Season?  I rather doubt it.  That would be some comfort to us Lily fans--it could send her back to "American Horror Story," where, with Jessica gone, she could run the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're with you, Lily, whatever you do!  Can't wait to see "Cymbeline" live!
And we have GOT to have lunch!!!!!!!!!!!!

June Is Also Gay Pride Month, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since June is Gay Pride Month, girls, instead of all the political logos everyone else is going to have, I wanted to have a shot of Judy Garland, with Jack Harmon and Don McKay, dancing the classic opening number, "Gotta Have Me Go With You," from the 1954 "A Star Is Born," to illustrate the fact.

This is an opening that gets the film off to a kicking start. Especially when James Mason as a drunken Norman Maine steps in, and Judy fakes his steps for him to rescue his reputation--and theirs.  It is a great kick-off moment, so what better way to kick-off Gay Pride???????

And damn it, I wanted something on display, besides those Dykes On Bikes. Because, you know they are going to lead the parade come Sunday, June 28.  Well, up yours, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, we will try all month to find something to be proud about being gay. And this opening number can't be beat! Here, take a look!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you top this, darlings????????????????????????

Mrs. Voorhees Is Dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It had to happen, and it happened the way I said.  Betsy Palmer passed away, this past Friday, May 29, with the lead credit in her obit being her iconic role as Mrs. Voorhees, in the original, 1980 "Friday The 13th."

As one paper said, it was not a fame she had sought.  She had originally agreed to do the film, to earn the $10K she needed to buy a car.  As she said, at the time, "No one will see this piece of crap!"

Then the film opened--and from that moment on, Betsy was a star!!!!!!!!!!!   And how about those pearly whites??????????

Her is the greatest example of an actor not knowing where their career will take them.  Who would have thought, especically at the time, that notably wholesome Betsy Palmer would emerge as one of Horror's greatest icons??????????????

Not to dismiss her work in "Queen Bee,"  or her panelist work on the game show "I've Got A Secret," but to generations since, Betsy Palmer IS Mrs.. Voorhees!  She will be deeply missed!

Rest In Peace, Betsy!  You slayed them, darling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It Was 48 Years Ago, Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, girls, June sure is musical!  In addition to Rodgers and Hammerstein, this is the day, each year, I play The Beatles masterwork, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonelyhearts Club Band."  It was originally released on June 1, 1967.  What a way to start a month!!!!!!!!!!!!

And from then on, June 1, has never been the same!  The day would not be complete without it!

It is always the first thing I listen to on this day!  I don't want you girls, to miss a thing!  So, here it is!  Let the opening inspire you to enjoy the rest of this classic, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"June Is Butin' Out All Over, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The month that is just about everyone's favorite, begins today, and, like may, is east to open with, as it has its own song.  Who ever wrote a song about January????????????

Yes, darlings, it is June first, and already we have events booked!  No to mention this is Gay Pride moth, Judy Garland's birth AND death month, and the birthdays of many family and friends, so ii should prove to be an exciting month!

And next Sunday is the TONY Awards. So, I guess this marks the start of TONT Week!

But let me share this musical classic with you!  And have a Happy June!
