Happy Birthday To Blythe Danner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, if I woke up in the morning looking this good...oh, my God!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is Blythe Danner's birthday, and my girls and I all wish her a happy one. But this is not just any old birthday.  This is a milestone!

On this day, Blythe Danner turns 80!!!!!!!!!!!  Can you believe it, darlings?  How I would have loved to have had her gene pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I knew Blythe, which I don't, I would have invited her for afternoon tea at the St. Regis Hotel.  Who knows, she might be seen there.

So, Happy Birthday, Blythe, and have yourself a great celebration.  Tea with jelly cake.  That's what all my girls love.

Beauty untouched by time, darlings!  We should all be so lucky!!!!!!!!!

Even When Anthony Perkins Dressed As "Mother Bates," He Was Still More Attractive Than George Santos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is why I cannot believe the lie that George Santos was a competing drag queen.  Who the hell would choose him?  Even out of drag, he is not much to look at.

If his lies had not been exposed--shades of Eve Harrington!!!!!!!!--I would label him a dangerous closet case.  He may be a closet case, but he is not fooling anyone.  Except the Republican party, who, God forgive me, have enough wack jobs in their organization to outdo anyone in politics.

I mean, take a look at Marjorie Taylor Greene.  It would not surprise me if she turns out to be a man in drag.  Or even a Christine Jorgensen type who had a sex change.  And while she is not much to look at, she is a sight better than Santos.  The best that can be said for her is that her lies are outright.  Santos' are so far-fetched, no one will believe him.

Even Perkins' fashion taste is better than Santos.

He can't impersonate anyone or thing properly!

So, why are so many still behind him?

This Has To Be One Of The Most Iconic Debut Entrances In Film History!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It certainly is, and we cheer Gojira on!  The famous close-up shot of Momoko Kochi, as Emiko, screaming, suggests not only a brilliant depiction of terror, but the realization that this actress is now working with a brand-new star!!!!!!!!!!!!

Svengoolie, on his broadcast, explained, as I did, how the film was truncated, but what surprised me, not having seen this version in years, and not even really wanting to, save for the "Gojira" footage, is how much of the footage remains in this version.  The shot of the mother and child huddling together in fear, which has to be one of the greatest anti-war images, as well as the children singing, and the people being wheeled in and out of the hospital.  Yes, some scenes were cut and re-arranged to cut down on the anti-war message, but it could not be stopped.  It is still there.

Gojira should have received an Oscar nomination for his brilliant and moving performance.  He out acts everyone on screen, including Raymond Burr, which is not saying much, but is the truth.

I can only advise you to look at the 1954 "Gojira," in Japanese, with English subtitles.  Then you will see what an artistic masterpiece the film actually is.

As for "Sventoonie," well "Circus Of Fear," from 1966, was not one of his better selections.  Despite a reputable cast--Christopher Lee, Klaus Kinski, and Suzy Kendall--it was still more heist comedy, like "Rififi," or "Topkapi," than a circus thriller.   There was less circus footage than the film promised, and that really disappointed me.  Yes, there was a serial killer, and a hunt on to find out who was responsible.  The surprise revelation of the killer was the only good moment in the film.

But, next to a gem like "Gojira," any film would seem worse.

I never had circus fantasies as a child, but I do love stories about haunted circuses or amusement parks.  But, from the look on Suzy Kendall's face, I would never go into this profession.

And with that hair?  I would be disgraced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure to style your hair, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Groundhog's Day, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, it is ironic, considering the winter we have had so far, that Punxsutawney Phil, the Official Groundhog, saw his shadow.   That means we are about to get six more weeks of Winter, but what the hell does that mean, in relation to what we have gone through?  This Winter has almost felt like a precursor to Spring,

So, either we are in for big trouble these last six weeks, or things will continue as they are.  This would not displease me, in the least, but let's face it, darlings, something has to give.

I guess the message of this Groundhog's Day is to cherish each day as it comes.  Because who knows what we are in for up the road?

My wish for all is that these roads stay smooth sailing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                             Happy Groundhog's Day, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

"In The Shadows, Let Me Come And Sing...To You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The winter blues are upon me, and how I wish life were a Busby Berkley musical.  Just look at that gorgeousness, girls!  Wouldn't you like to be a part of that?  I know I would!

Those steps, those gowns, would take away those winter blues fast.

Imagine, all of us assembling, taking our places!  What a tapestry we would make.

Sometimes, as this proves, it is better NOT to stand out from the crowd!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is Tammy Grimes wishing for those shadows!  So do I, darlings!!!!!!!!

Happy Candlemass Eve, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, girls, it is that time of year again.  The night the witches mock the rituals of the church....and sacrifice a virgin!!!!!!!!!!!!   Now, one may ask--where to find one?

First, I am sure none of my readers are in that category, or, if you are, hons, get a life, or maybe you should not be reading this blog.  It may be too racy for virgins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to be cautious, I would lock my door as soon as the sun goes down.  It can't hurt, because with supply so low, desperate measures may be called for.

And none of us want to be sacrificed to Satan!  We are good girls!!!!!!!!!!!!

                               Have a pleasant evening, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Better Way To Welcome In This Most Romantic Of Months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For a short month, February has a lot going on.  I have five birthday cards for folks I have to send to, tomorrow is Groundhog Day, and the next day Blythe Danner turns 80!  Can you believe it, darlings?  How can we manage to look so good?

The 165th Anniversary Of The Apparition Of Our Lady Of Lourdes happens on the 11th, then there is Valentine's Day on the 14th.  My youngest nephew has birthday on the 24th, and my sister on the 28th.  Shelley Plimpton's birthday is the day before.

Added to all this, David is planning to take a week off starting with President's Day, and right now we have ideas but have not certified plans.

So, February already looks to be a busy month, with a lot of events packed in.

A happy, romantic February to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
