Well, It Is About Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson married on October 29, 2020, hearts were broken across the nation.  Girls and gay men who yearned for Colin failed to realize their dreams, though let me tell you, darlings, facts do not have to stop one from dreaming those dreams.

And this same sector of the populace had a little--well, much more--bit of envy, when Scarlett landed Colin.

I must confess to all this, myself.  However, what I was more concerned about was when in the world were they going to have a baby?  How long would it take Colin to ram it home? And would Scarlett subject herself, again, to childbirth??????????????????????????

Well, the news is out--Scarlett is expecting, so Colin did his best!  Not only that,  but she is said to be due "very soon," so how long has she been carrying this around, and why isn't she showing?  Or maybe she is just staying out of the limelight.

Colin Jost is a good Catholic boy from a good Catholic family on Staten Island, so I know he is thrilled, as are his relations!  A little Jost!  How exciting!  Male or female, with two such stunning creatures as parents, the child cannot be anything but beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                               Congrats to the expectant parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                And go, Colin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, I Am Telling You, There Is No Better Way To Start The Day, Than With A Steaming Cup Of Black Coffee, And Listening To "Go Ask ANNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

As much as David works from  home,  I try to incorporate this into the start of my day, when I can, because Coffee and ANNA clear the mind.

There are some days--and, girls,  we ALL have them--when I get up, look in the mirror, and go, "Bleahhhhhhhhh!"  And ask myself, what in the world am I going to look like today.  Not to mention what am I going to do with my hair, and my skin?

Just a few words from ANNA can get me on my way.  Her appearance, the guidance of her words,  and her sensibility about colors and textures--very important to me--and wearing what reflects who you are--a mantra I share--is as inspiring,  in its own way, as listening to Sister Camille on Sunday.

I bet if ANNA knew about Sister Camille,  she would listen to her!

So,  girls, if  you need a kickstart to your day, this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Question From One Of My Readers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not just ANY reader, but one  of the more fabulous,  who is Victoria.  Her question is, "What do you imagine your life would have been like, had you not moved to New York City?

Picture this, before going any further.

                                          OK, here goes!

                                           Victoria, and Everyone,

I can honestly say this is something I ask, periodically still, to this day.  Moving to New York City was always a dream of mine,  but I never thought of achieving it. I somehow had the feeling I would be working in NYC, because my father did, but that  I would be residing in either my hometown of Highland Park,  NJ, or across the river,  in an apartment in New Brunswick, from where I would have commuted to NYC via bus or train.  I would return home an night.  And,  of course, I would be a spinster, because, back then, I had no imagining of  how my life possibly could have been like it is today.  I might have withdrawn, become a BIG Closet Case,  and steered myself  into Sylvia Plath  territory.  Not suicide; just acute depression.

I imagined I would spend  my weekend days in the city,  using that time to do what I wanted.  Yet, always returning to NJ.

Puberty changed all that.  My hormones pointed me to men, not women, which did not make for the happy, carefree adolescence I was anticipating--though I forced myself into  HS activities, in order  to prove  myself, a goal that still pushes me today.  By the time I was  out of college, life  was soon altered--1979--by my mother's death.  Some relations said unforgivable things  about me, and  how I was holding my father back, and I knew  I had to get  out of there.

                                                    But how?

It happened.  I enrolled in NYU, got a Master's, a full time job at the Library Of The Performing Arts,  where I worked  for 35 years, then retired.  I was part of the social scene and theater community for that  period,  with no regrets.  I also ventured into stage managing and performing during these years.

And,  in 2010 I met my life's dream--my darling, David.

Would any of this have happened, had  I stayed in my home town?

Absolutely not!

By now,  I would have been  in a mental institution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, It Could Have Been Called "She-Bitch Of London!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Girls, let's face it, that Sara Haden as Aunt Martha Winthrop, was some grade A bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you notice how closely this film resembles "Gaslight?"

Poor  Phyllis  Allenby, played by June Lockhart.  She was so sweet; who would suspect her?  Haunted by a  family werewolf curse,  which Aunt Martha (who is really not an aunt,  but a rejected woman from Phyllis' father's past, who stays on as housekeeper, and raises her unsuspecting daughter, Carol (Jan Wiley) as Phyllis's cousin.) exploits, in order to drive Phyllis insane.  Aunt Martha, desperate every minute, wishes to do this, so her daughter can marry Phyllis' intended,  Barry Landfield, played by Don Porter.  Are you with me so far???????????????

Of course, only I  knew  all this,  having seen the film  before.  What surprised me this  time  around was the blatant low budget.  Instead of the mysterious woman being apprehended and  unmasked in the  park, as Aunt Martha, the  producers obviously wanted to wrap this one up, so they concocted  a self-confessional  monologue, which Martha delivers over Phyllis, who chases after her, leaving Aunt Martha to fall down the stairs, and on her knife!

I would have preferred my own ending,  mentioned  above.  Also,  I felt so sorry for poor Carol, who had no  idea how despicable her mother was; even if the  two have had  words.   As for Aunt Martha,  it was all for naught; I think Phyllis  would have allowed Martha and Carol  to stay on  in the house, had auntie just  stayed  out of  it.

This film makes the best argument for  never  taking  in relatives.

You know what they say about  fish and guests,  darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, some questions I have about the film.

                                                          1. Martha's last  name was  Winthrop?  Did she marry a man by that name, and have  Carol  that way?

                                                            Or--

                                                            2. Had she been impregnated by Allenby, with a maiden name of Winthrop, and that was why she and Carol were kept on?

                                                              Lastly--

                                                              3.  Phyllis is an orphan.  She mentions her parents having been killed, but never says when, or how.  Could Aunt Martha have had something to do with that?

As the beloved Dorothy Parker said, "I wouldn't be at  all surprised!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

As Long As We Are Talking Designers, Girls, How About A Cecil Beaton Inspired Living Room??????????????????

Wouldn't this just suit me to sit in, and  read, darlings????????????

Honestly, Cecil did it all--stage, ballet, clothes (Men and Women), as well as domestic interiors.

I would love to have Cecil redecorate our apartment. l Hell,  I would be content with this living room.

But Cecil is not here!  And where are the knockoff artists who can recreate him.

                                                Where the hell are they?????????????????????

Girls, I Simply Have GOT To Go To Balenciaga's Men's Outlet Store, At 148 Mercer Street!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I have said, Balenciaga is one  of  my favorite designers, and I feel SO disgraced, because, while reviewing my closet  for the Summer, not a single of item of  his is  in it.  This MUST be corrected,  pronto, so this is a destination I must visit in the near future.  Hopefully, before "the  procedure," but maybe as a treat/consolation, afterward.

I mean, suppose a meeting with Joey or ANNA looms  on the horizon?  I have GOT to be ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides, there are some items I have seen online that dying to check out there!

Like,  some pink sandals?  And how about these men's shirts?????????????????

I mean,  darlings, the answer to Summer wear is......Balenciaga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When Will You Get To Me??????????????????????????????

The "Joe" I am referring to is Joe Santi, the unseen voice,  and photographer of "VOGUE"S" "73 Questions With......." videos.

Joey, hon, come on, now!   I have been doing this for 14 years, and pre-Covid, believe me, darling, I was on the scene, plus many people--readers and friends--I know are  curious about me,  so couldn't you squeeze me  in,  sometime????????????

Bay Ridge is lovely, and both David and  I bring a sophistication to it, that might otherwise be lacking.  I managed to achieve just that, while  living  in my home  town of Highland Park, New Jersey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, Joey, get your act in gear!

                                           Inquiring minds want to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
