There Are Dolls For Just About Everything! So Why Is There No "Moonstruck" Doll??????????????????????????

Would you believe there is an Alex Forrest doll from "Fatal Attraction??????????" Yes, darlings, I am not kidding.  So, why cannot there be a "Moonstruck" doll?

I would rather own a Loretta Castroini doll than Alex.  Certainly, more joyous and cheerful; you know what I mean?

Just looking at the poster makes me feel good.  I always wanted it on my wall.

Maybe I have not hunted hard enough.  Somewhere out there, there has got to be a "Moonstruck" doll.

And stop playing that Vicki Carr record!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What??????????????? No Joey Chestnut???????????????????

Joey Chestnut, in his own unique way, is as iconic of the Fourth Of July as Uncle Sam.

For sixteen years, he has reigned supreme at the Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island, which happens on July 4.  But now Nathan's has gotten into a snit, because, Joey, who is a professional eater--they don't have that major in college YET--registered with some vegan company, and so the other brand is all bent out of shape, and now they do not want Joey.

Nathan's, get over it!  Or, as Cher said in "Moonstruck," "Snap out of it!"

Really, there is no reason why Joey should not appear.  If he does not, I bet there won't be much of a crowd as when he is there, and should this continue over the years, the contest will lose its audience and fan base.  Can another Joey be discovered?  Only time will tell.

Nathan's is acting childish.   Let Joey stay in the contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, I Am Telling You, For Social Success, Everyone Should Have A Clarice Cliff Dinner Set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since orange is one of my signature colors, darlings, I just have GOT to have this one.  And with silverware and cutlery to match, it could go with Summer, certainly, but I could see using it at Halloween, and Christmas, too.  I mean, it IS Clarice Cliff, for heaven's sake, and what could be more festive than that??????????????

Everyone needs a special dinner set for special times, like holidays, or showing off to friends.  And Clarice Cliff has the perfect selection for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take your pick, darlings!  There is a wide selection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before Having A Mimosa To Drink, Wouldn't It Be Nice To Have Some Mimosa Flowers On The Table??????????????

Hons, I certainly could use a Mimosa!  Several, in fact.  Like the time I consumed five of them at a morning office party, and then went on the reference desk during the hours of 12 through 6.  Those hours flew by, let me tell you, and I felt so good, I was extra nice.

But that was then, and this is now.  I have not consumed orange juice in years, what with acid reflux and my diabetes.  But after the previous week, I am telling you I would risk one Mimosa!

Never without mimosa flowers on my table, while I drink the beverage.  I mean, this SO de rigeur, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, dears, to have flowers on your table, when you drink Mimosas!

It Was A Tough Week, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, it really was. Starting with the lighter stuff, I finished "Butter," by Asako Yuzuki, then started "The Last Devil To Die, by Richard Osman, but more on those in another post.

The major event this week was David's journey to and from the hospital.  On June 12, we went, as he was scheduled for prostate surgery, which both of us assumed would be an outpatient procedure.  We were wrong.  Before he went in, then under, he was told they were keeping him overnight.  The hospital was Lutheran/NYU Langone, not far from us in Bay Ridge.

The surgical procedure took less than two hours, and no, he did not have to go to Baghdad. darlings.  That is what I was afraid of.  When I got to him in the recovery unit, he was groggy from the anesthesia.  He was not his regular self.  He was confused, tired, and in pain.  Well, who wouldn't be, after this?  Me, I would be screaming like hell!  I stayed with David, who then ordered me to leave at 7PM, to be sure I would be home safe, before dark, and could have my usual quiet evening of reading till 9:30, watching the second half of "48 Hours," then "Judge Judy" from 10PM till 11PM, and then the CBS News.

I did all this, but let me tell you, I did it all robotically.  My reading comprehension never left me, but a feeling of strangeness, a void, an absence was present all about the apartment.  I wondered if a ghost, straight out of Dickens, would appear, but then it is not Christmas, and I am not a miser.

I missed David dearly, but with Baby Gojira and Little Pippin, plus Cucumbo taking care of me, I was somehow able to bare it, knowing he was safe in the hospital, which is just a mile from our apartment, and God forbid, if anything went wrong, he would be in the right place to get immediate attention.

Nothing went wrong, thank God.  Except David awakened me at 6:30 AM to tell me to get to the hospital by 10AM, as he was being discharged.  I had coffee, ate breakfast, and showered, but it was "wash and go," darlings.  This morning as well, as we had to be at the ambulatory center near us by 10AM, so the doctor could take out David's catheter.  He did, and David is home, and I am happy to report, urinating.

So, this is why I have not posted much lately.  I will try to make up for that, but the important thing is David is his old self--even after surgery, he still walks faster than I--and now I know what Scarlett went through when Melanie had the baby!  I was Scarlett, darlings!  And, like her I summoned all my strength.  And designer outfits!

A special thanks to St. Bernadette and Sister Camille D'Arienzo, who I know were with me on the way.

What a week.  May we not have another--at least for a long while!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I Want To Know, Darlings, Is What 'Merrily' Song Will Be Sung On The TONY Awards???????????????????

Today begins TONY Week, girls, and the Theater Community is most excited, I assure you if you go to a Broadway, TONY nominated show this week, you will see the most "up" performances ever, because everyone is at their best during TONY Week.

But what about the hit revival of "Merrily We Roll Along?"  How to best represent that on the show.  I have some ideas.  Here they are--

"Our Time--" For those of us old enough to have seen the original 'Merrily,' or to recall the starting out of our youth, this is the song that breaks the heart and hits one in the solar plexus.   The three leads are incredibly moving, and in some ways, this is the heart of the show.  Audiences will go wild, and tear up at this song, so I think it should be showcased.
"Opening Doors--" Now, this song is tricky.  Sure, it seems joyous and youthful, but those who know the show realize where these characters are now, and where they will end up, and that is kind of dark and depressing.  The number's optimism works against its sadness, making it more heartbreaking, aided by the extraordinary cast.
"Old Friends--" This is what I think will be showcased on the TONY Awards.  It is the most seemingly upbeat song of the score, it superbly showcases the three leads, all of whom should win, and that includes Lindsay Mendez, darlings, and it will be easiest for the audience to digest.  I would still prefer "Our Time," but I think this will be the one.

May 'Merrily' win everything it is up for.  It is now this show's time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darlings, I Want To Be A Kit Kat Club Girl In "Cabaret!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Of course, you know, girls, I want to play Sally Bowles, but one step at a time!

What may not be known is that the biggest lesbian hangout in Manhattan is not downtown.  It is not The Cubbyhole or Henrietta's On Hudson.  It is The August Wilson Theatre up on West 52nd Street, where the current revival of "Cabaret" is playing.

Of course, now it is entitled "Cabaret At The Kit Kat Club."  Soon it will re-titled "Cabaret At The Clit Kat Club," because, darlings, I am telling you, lesbians on both sides of the Hudson are flocking to this garish, hyper-sexualized "American Horror Story" rip-off.  They sit there scarfing down their drinks and having a grand old lesbian time.  The butcher, the better.

Gay Theater Queens had best beware.  They could OD on estrogen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumor has it that our neighbor across the street, Florence, is there at every performance.  The Dykes On Bikes missed last night because of Park Slope Pride.

What I want to know is how they afford it?  This could be the highest priced show in town.

The song says, "Come to the cabaret."  But how is one to pay for it???????????
