Darlings, There Is Going To Be A Stampede Of New York Theater Queens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The second act opening number of Sondheim's classic and admired flop is called "It's A Hit!"  From the tumultuous words I have heard emanating from the New York Theater Workshop about their current revival of "Merrily We Roll Along," staff there had better be prepared for an insurrection comparable to January 6, 2021, if Theater Queens do not get in to see this production.

Include me in that group, because, according to word about town, the trio assembled--Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez (whose casting you first heard about here, darlings) and Daniel Radcliffe--suggestively come close to standing on par with their originals--Jim Walton, Ann Morrison, and Lonny Price.  Who are still this show's gold standard.

I keep hearing about Radcliffe's emotionally impassioned performance, Lindsay Mendez and her gigantic but character driven voice, and Jonathan Groff's almost understated take on Franklin Shepard.  I have also heard Katie Rose Clarke, as Beth delivers a heartbreaking "Not A Day Goes By."  Darlings, I am telling you, I have got to see this.  Now, several papers have indicated this is almost certain to move uptown at some point, and if it does, I have just got to be there.  Hey, guys, at least give us a CD for those of us who never tire of hearing the 'Merrily' score.

It is so exciting and coincidental that the two hottest properties of the season are playing concurrently--'Merrily' at the NYTW, located at 79 East 4th Street, and "The Hours, at The Met, located at Lincoln Center.  What a time for theater queens to weep and clutch those hankies.

Just make sure they are the right color, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Victoria,
Believe me, there is a clamor to this
show, even though the run is sold out.
