My readers on here, should, I hope, know that that is Andrea McArdle, who was Broadway's original "ANNIE," back in 1977. I was there. I saw.
Back in 2,007, The Actors Fund presented a performance, one-night of the 1978 musical, |"The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas." The title says it all. But what many may not be aware of is that it has several beautiful, tender melodies. One of these is "Doatsy Mae," the song Andrea sings with such emotionality, and is dedicated to all dreamers out there, who may not reach those goals, but keep trying or hoping. There is a little of Doatsy Mae in all of us.
Andrea, and Sarah Jessica Parker, were really the only two "ANNIE's" to transition to adulthood. Andrea's voice (she was 43, here) is still magnificent and
wait till you hear it combined with the poignant piano arrangement.

It is a heart stopper and stopped the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To all the Doatsy Maes out there. Keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Susan Mansur!!!
Victoria,
Absolutely, Susan Mansur! I saw her do it in
the Bway original, back in 1978, and just listened
to her now. But Andrea brings something of her
own to it. A lovely, poignant song.
